A Wonderful Mother's Day Dinner

"I am hoping all the wonderful Women in this World, Mothers or not, had themselves an amazing Day, being treated or treating themselves to a Day fit for a Queen."

I had myself a pretty good Mother's Day myself.  I didn't have to clean one bit, which having no Hydro for four hours today contributed to the fact that I didn't.  I really love those days when I have a legitimate excuse "why I didn't" get something done, don't you?

My dear husband, Rob, had made reservations for Dinner at the Waterview Resort here in Wiarton for their Mother's Day Dinner Buffet.  We have ate at the Waterview on a number of occasions with naught a disappointing experience ever.  Should you ever want to spend a Get Away at the Waterview, I would recommend you book months in advance, as really it is that popular and that lovely.

We had also invited our two Crabby Cabbie drivers along to join us for Dinner, or should I say John and Rob had made the reservations in person last week when they had made a courtesy call there.  It was nice John, his wife, Laurie, and Carolyn were able to join us today.

Carolyn drove up from Southampton to meet up with us at our place, then we headed on into Wiarton to meet up with John and Laurie at the Waterview.

"I think someone forgot to inform Mother Nature that Old Man Winter was to be treating her to a nice day then dishing this up to her on Mother's Day."

Really now for those of us who might have forgotten we do live in Bruce County, and we do on many the occasion have Four Seasons all in the same day !

The nice thing about all of this snow is that it has not stuck around on the ground in our area of the Province, however I am certain it has in other areas of Ontario from the postings I have seen on Facebook.  Yech.

"The guys went up to pay for our Dinners while us ladies found our table and got ourselves seated.  Before the Buffet began, after Appetizers and Cocktail hour, at 6 pm, Owners Evan and Dave sang a Happy Mother's Song for all the ladies in the room.  They are both fun loving and the most gracious Hosts."

The Dinner Buffet was fantastic with choices of Shrimp stuffed Sole, Roast Beef, a variety of vegetables, salads and rolls.

"For my Dinner I chose the Stuffed Sole, Mac & Cheese & Mixed Veggies, while Carolyn and the others had a tender slice of Roast Beef with all the trimmings."

"Carnations were complimentary for the Ladies.  Rob picked out this lovely cream and raspberry trimmed one, while John went up to choose one each for his wife and Carolyn.  Nice gesture John."

After our Dinner we lingered a bit while visiting with each other some more before we took our leave to head back home to our respective homes.  Good Company and Good Food always make for a Great Time.  It was a Wonderful Mother's Day Dinner.  Thank you Rob, and thank you for the people who had joined us.

Rob had a very late night last night, or should I say very early morning not arriving home until 6:00 am.  Needless to say he is gone to bed and hopefully sound asleep.

The wind is still blowing, the snow is still coming a wee bit, our wood stove is warm and cozy, and I am shortly going to be calling it a night myself, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".

  2. Sounds like you had a wonderful Mother's Day Celebration even with the weather not cooperating. We had snow this morning too but only a dusting, although we still have patches here and there that hasn't melt. I don't think Old Man Winter knows that his season is over.

  5. Well that was one memorable Mothers Day wasn't it? I'm sure in years to come we'll all say "Remember, it happened the year we had Mothers Day in the middle of winter", or something to that affect.
We didn't see much snow here but holy moly did it rain/sleet/ hail/blow!!!!!
Not much warmer today either. It seems like every flat surface in my house has a flat of plants on it.
