In Remembrance Of Those Who Served

~  Photo Taken from Facebook ~

A MAN AT THE CENOTAPH

He comes here often, not just once a year,

to honour those whose names are,

and those whose names are yet to be written

on the stone erected here.

And as he stands with head bowed low,

its notes ringing clear upon the air,

and when he looks, there is no one there.

Then bows his head in silent prayer

and perhaps sheds a silent tear.

HE REMEMBERS THEM.

Written by Basil Eby

I am very proud that my Uncle Basil had written the above Remembrance Day Poem, as it will be something I read and reflect on hopefully for many Years to come.  Thanks Uncle Basil  xo .

Tomorrow at 11:00 am, I know there will be a Silence swept across the Country in remembrance of those who served for us, with many giving their lives, so ours could be a better brighter Future.

Onto my day, such as it was .... I began with a bit of puttering this morning, then decided to put a little "nook" table I had picked up for $5.00 a couple of weeks ago to use.  After trying a few unsuitable places out in and around the house I finally found "its" place.

"It is amazing how time consuming changing a few things around back and forth until you get the effect you want takes !  This is what I ended up with, being very pleased with it all.  The little Nook Table couldn't have fit better then it did in its corner spot here."

I also have decided where another item I purchased, months ago, is going to fit in perfectly now.  Finally it might all come together, but sometimes these things take longer .... until the "perfect" spot is found.

"Yeah !!!  the Epicure orders arrived the other night.  Thank you, Anita !  I am biting at the bit to try them all out.  There will be sure to be updates about those experiences, this I am certain of."

If my husband is ever home again with me, not working so much as he has been, I will be back to cooking some meals again.  Yes, I have once again became a "Crabby Cabbie" Widow.  Don't get me wrong, I am thankful he is out there busting his butt working hard, but I do miss him at times when he is gone for so many long hours.  There are times what has to be done, has to be done is all.

I called my friend, BJ, to tell her I would drop down with her Epicure order just before lunch, and we decided with would go to the Baptist Church Bazaar together.

We both had such a "Social" time, something most difficult for us not to do as we are such "Social Butterflies" the two of us are.  Ha !  or is that because we both know how to talk a lot communicate well.  Really though, we both had a great time and a lovely lunch with fancy sandwiches, relish trays, trays of goodies and tea or coffee (by donation).  Those wonderful Church ladies most certainly know how to "do it up" good, they do so.

"See how lovely it all was ... and the food was all so "delish"."

"Just a little example of a couple of the Handmade goods which had been available for purchase."

There had also been a White Elephant table and a Baking/Preserve table too.  BJ bought from both tables, while I had only bought off the White Elephant tables, but can not share what or I would give away a couple surprises I have up my sleeve.

I had been also so excited to had seen my friend, Sharon, at the Bazaar, who has been tied up with other things the past while, but it had sure been nice to see her today!

BJ and I never stopped there ... NO, with both our arms full we headed up town to four more stores.

"These are what I had picked up at the Wiarton Salvation Army's Thrift Store, but what I have planned for them is yet another "secret"."

I am starting to get excited about Christmas already, with even beginning to think about what Christmas baking I am going to be doing this Year.  Are you beginning yet to think the same way?  I have to get everything out of the closet I have been collecting in the way of Christmas Presents all Year, to see what I have for who, and what is still needed or not.  That will be a "job" in itself now won't it?  Lots to think about and to be done.

I could not believe it, by the time we got back to BJ's, where we had a bit more of a visit along with coffee and a treat (again), it was going on to 5 o'clock by the time I got back home.  Phew !  with lots to get done and lots that did not get done.

I enjoyed having an afternoon spent with a friend.  Friends are the BEST in my BOOKS, are they in yours?

" Friends .... "

I have a big day planned for myself tomorrow in the way of an Adventure, with still a few things needing done this evening.  On that note, I am off and running, once again, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".

  2. I am definitely starting to think about Christmas. I don't do any Christmas baking these days. Well, unless you count my annual Christmas gift to my husband, which is committing to making him muffins for breakfast each morning. (I bake in baches & freeze, I'm not quite up for baking them each morning).

I do, however, love the Trader Joe's Peppermint JoJo cookies, & eat them like they're going out of style. :-)

  6. This is definitely a day to remember! Love what you did with your bathroom. A bathroom re-do is definitely on my very long re-do list. We kind of need some major changes there, so I just keep getting bits and pieces for it right now.

How nice of you to drop around to have a wee visit with me to see what I have been up to from time to time. I look forward to your comments as they add much brightness to my each and every day to know there are such wonderful people out there.
