Dining Out Funds Remaining: $(1.08) Oops over budget on this, no more eating out this Month for us !
Misc. Spending: $25.00 ~ Spent $25.00 on a a Window replacement for our bathroom, in excellent used condition, otherwise costing us over $200. plus for a brand new one. Couldn't resist, so well worth the funds spent.
Misc. Funds Remaining: $(20.11)
Funds Remaining for the Month of September: $59.97 (after the overages on Dining Out & Misc. Spending)
Oh yes, the $20.00 I had set aside for Post Crossing this month? There is still $5.00 and change remaining in that envelope, so I am still within budget there. I think I will be able to send three more Post Cards, should I feel inclined to, still remaining within budget.
Now onto the second important item at hand, before this too I forget .... a Warm Welcome goes out to my newest follower, Kerry of Stitching Sister. Thanks Kerry for joining me here for my daily ramblings, and hopefully only an occasional rant or two at any given time.
"This is exactly how it felt today in our Neck of the Woods."
I almost was blown away at the wash line this morning, and again when retrieving the clothes just before suppertime. The Willow trees are swaying to and fro still as I gaze out through the patio doors, and never mind how cold it feels ... brr.
"As I was doing up some dishes, Rob happened to show up behind me. Look at this, our Kitchen light that has not been working for months is being fixed. And then there was "light"! Amazing .... it was fixed !"
I can not believe how long I did without a "main" light in the kitchen. There was a bit of jaw jabbing back and forth before this was put into play .... I am sure Rob said something to the effect he had meant to keep me in the dark for this long, as he didn't want me to get out and really see what was going on. Umm maybe he had a good point, there were cobwebs on the light fixture I really hadn't noticed until it had been fixed. Ha ! that will teach me.
"Carrots all dry and ready to make up this one Quart Jar this morning when I arose."
"I prepared the remainder of the 10 lb bag of carrots to put in the dehydrator this evening (remember cheap hydro after 7 pm)."
I had to think about what I was going to make today for our supper. Out came a small roast from the freezer. Into the Crock Pot it went along with carrots and a couple of cooking onions Potatoes were added in later, as they go too mushy if added in at the first.
I had a Broccoli needing used up in the fridge, so I got to doing preparations to make Rob's favourite Broccoli Salad.
"It just so happened I had bacon still not used up in the Fridge, so fried up it was."
"It doesn't take long around here for the compost pail to be filled up."
"This is all it takes to make one of the most wonderful dressings I have ever tasted. I do so love Easy Peasy as 1-2-3."
"The finished product just before Supper time. Doesn't this look yummy? It is and it was ..."
This recipe was given to me by my friend, Reenie, and has been one of Rob's favourites since he first had it at her home a few years ago. For the size of salad I made today, I made up only 1/2 of the dressing amount.
Recipe please? PRINTABLE RECIPE HERE
Laundry on the line, dishes done up, light fixture fixed (Rob couldn't believe it was only a wire that had came loose; how in the heck did that happen way up there on the ceiling?), bed made, Aussies looked after .... it was then an errand trip downtown Wiarton.
"First stop, the Pharmacy for Rob to pick up his antibiotics the Doctor had order him, as he has a bit of Ear drainage problem going on .... no wonder he hasn't been feeling well lately. He was a bit on the fluish side also the past couple of days to top it all off with."
"Many of the downtown stores have had a "facelift" to their store front this Year, or last. The Rankin River Trading Co's facelift is about one of the coolest and most unique I think. There is one other particular store front I also think pretty unique too, but that will be another day and another photo."
"Into Sadler's Home Hardware we had to go, as we needed us some Ammonia."
"I have been extremely good about NOT going into the Thrift Store this past September Savings Challenge Month, but I really couldn't resist it today. Besides I hadn't seen the girls there since I had dropped around some Zucchini, and that had to be at least a month ago by now."
"Into the Post Office I went, as Rob headed in the other direction. I like our Post Office, there is "stuff" to look at in here, as well as some very friendly staff members I enjoy seeing."
"Now to hunt down where Rob got off to, however I do have a pretty good idea."
"Pinkerton's Auto Supply. This is where I suspect Rob could be."
"In a town the size of Wiarton with there only being one Auto Supply Store, where else would I find my hubby? Ha, there you are ! you can't escape my clutches, Rob !"
"We arrived back home to find one piece of mail in our mail box. Don't you love when the envelope says, "Time-Sensitive Notification. Open At Once". Who is it time sensitive to? sure the heck not me."
"I was otherwise happy to open the envelope to find a "free" copy of Chatelaine. No thanks to the $14.95 subscription, plus handling & shipping. Maybe if my Auntie gets some interesting ones she will again share with me when she is finished with hers if not promised already to another?"
Oh yes and then there was the matter of the Tomato Powder I had made.
"Just as I had suspected, the ones I had dried with the seeds still had moisture in them, so out of the jar and into a freezer bag and freezer they went. The seedless Tomato Powder was "A" okay and remained in the jar, now sitting in my cupboard. I am looking forward to the next dish I make requiring Tomato Paste so I can give this a whirl."
Rob and I were going to give something "new" a try today that I had found somewhere or another posted, Facebook maybe? Since I had been doing a bunch of canning the past week or so, needless to say there has been a couple boil overs (and some from before I am sure).
"Look how nasty the burner rings have gotten. I used Oven Cleaner on them the last time to get them clean."
"The Method I am trying to clean them is by placing each into a Ziploc freezer bag with approximately 1/4 cup of Ammonia. I got this "tip" HERE. Stay tuned for the results after 24 hours."
If it doesn't work, I still have a bottle of Ammonia that cost under $3.00, I can use for other cleaning projects. Just a tad in with vinegar and water adds sparkle to any window or appliance.
"Yes I dipped into our September grocery budget and bought this from the Salvation Army's Thrift Store today. But it was only $4.50, it is food related and I didn't have a casserole this deep to do up the Stuffed Green Peppers I am planning on making. It is settled then, I am keeping it !"
Jeez where did the day go???? Before I knew it, it was time to get our supper on the table.
"Yummy, I hadn't made a Roast Beef in the Slow Cooker for some time. Must be the cool weather bringing on the Comfort Food feeling. The roasted onion was sooo good cut up together with the beef. Only for me, as Rob does not care for Roasted Onion. The Broccoli Salad ... really yummy as it all was."
Our supper over with, dishes done up, the table put back to order ...
"I really enjoy admiring my new Halloween Table Runner, I am going with it for all it's worth. Fall centerpieces are so nice. I am not as fancy dancy as some people are with their Tablescapes, but I do like mine however simple it might seem."
Oh man, here it is after 9 pm already, with me having forgotten all about putting those sliced carrots in the dehydrators ... where does time fly to? I guess I have been living it and not missing out one bit.
I can remember feeling like this a lot at one time in my life ....
The fear of missing out. – If you feel anxious because you constantly feel like you’re missing out on something happening somewhere else, you’re not alone. We all feel this way sometimes. But let me assure you,you could run around trying to do everything, and travel around the world, and always stay connected, and work and party all night long without sleep, but you could never do it all. You will always be missing something. So let it go, and realize you have everything right now. The best in life isn’t somewhere else; it’s right where you are, at this moment. Celebrate the perhaps not altogether insignificant fact that you are alive right now. This moment, and who you are, is absolutely perfect. Take a deep breath, smile, and notice how lovely it is. ~ Marc & Angel ~
I am off to get myself tucked it and hopefully to sleep as I listen to the howling of the wind outside our windows, as Rob and I have ourselves an adventure planned tomorrow, I am looking so forward to, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".
Can't wait to read about your adventure tomorrow!!

Have a good day tomorrow - taking a rest for a few days as my neck and shoulder are playing up and Rhonda is blaming all the time I spend on the internet!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite broccoli salad too! Nice find on that casserole dish!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your trip tomorrow. I can't wait to hear about it. You've certainly had a busy day today. I'm glad you are pleased with the tomato powder. I hope you will tell us how to use it. Take care. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteI love to see a town taking pride in their downtown. The nearest place to my home is disgusting. Lots of talk about doing something about it, but no one takes any initiative. I have two favorite downtowns, Port Perry and Uxbridge. Maybe I lean more toward Port Perry.
ReplyDeleteHope Rob's ear problem clears up quickly. I'm having a bit of a sinus problem due to on going allergy issues. Chronic conditions get tiring.
