I Was Almost A Patty !

"May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the rain fall softly on your fields and May you be half an hour in heaven before the devil knows your dead!" & HAPPY ST. PADDY'S DAY too !

I had a lovely email this morning from my friend, Andrea, who is in Florida right now.  She emailed me an early Birthday Greeting, as well as the "ditty" above.  What sweet friends I am truly blessed with.

Just think, if I had been born on this day, and not on the 18th, I could have been a Patty.  Today however was my Mother-In-Law's Birthday.  Rob's Mother was not a Patty though as she was an Olivia, and I do miss her often.  We both loved gardening, baking and preserving, with always having something in common to talk about.

This morning when we were out earlier there had been a fresh blanket of snow on everything.

"It didn't take long for us to make lots of tracks in the newly fallen blanket.  It was a gorgeous day !  Sunny, bright and warm."

"My beautiful Lexus and handsome Bandit."

My "Crabby Cabbie" didn't get home until 6 am this morning !  Wowsers that poor guy ... and he got up by 10 am to spend some of the day with me.  Once we made a quick scoot into the local Foodland store, I got back and started a bit of baking.  I figured housework could wait as I took advantage of running the oven today at the lower hydro rates.

"A friend was asking if I would make her an Apple Pie.  Now that I have my new Oven Range, I could no longer put it off.  Got it all ready, baked and packaged up for Rob to drop off to her tomorrow.  I hope she enjoys it."

Then I have had a recipe I had seen over at Gracie's Sense and Simplicity a few weeks ago, which I have been dying to try.  Today was that day I was making the Healthy Delicious Orange Oatmeal Cookies she had made.

"The cookies were approved by Rob after he had himself six.  I also loved them.  The recipe has been added to my collection of favourites.  Thanks Gracie !"

Once the kitchen was all cleaned up and the dishes done for the second time today, I then got going on preparing our Dinner.

"Turkey Dinner really did "hit" the spot this evening.  It was not only tender, but moist and flavourable too.  What would Turkey be with out Turnip & Gravey? not too good in our household.  I skipped on the dressing this time around, as really there was lots with the meat, potatoes, turnip and gravey.  I had placed a whole carrot and onion in the Turkey cavity for added flavour.  I would have added a stalk of celery too, but alas I was out."

There is never any argument in this household when it comes to Turkey, as Rob loves the white and I love the dark meat.  I do have to admit though there has been a few arguments over how large the turnip be cut up prior to cooking ... but we won't go there right now. Ha ! will we Rob ????

After our wonderful dinner, there were of course MORE dishes to do, so those got done before it was time to look after a little matter, or five as the case was, down in the basement with our "Checkerboard Aussies".

"I can't believe our Fabulous Four are already 6 weeks old.  Today was the day they were administered their 2nd worming.  It all went rather well with Rob holding each and every one until they each had their shot of medication in the mouth."

"Since the milk Mama Lexus produces the worms, Lexus also got a second dose of medication.  Such a good girl."

Oh my, I just glanced up at the clock and it is after 8 pm already!  There are Aussie dogs who need out, about and in for the last time this evening before their bedtime and mine, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".
