A typical morning around here lately starts out like this HERE. This of course is all usually before I have a coffee, and after the adult "gang" have all been taken out and fed. Then I have a coffee, catch up at the same time with my Social Networking on my lap top, then onto the usual chores of bed made, dishes, etc ...
Mornings, or late afternoon are usually the time I catch up with my fellow bloggers and their posts. The past month Blogging Buddy, Debby over at Nanny's Place did a Food Stamp Challenge. She had to stay on a Food Stamp budget for the whole month of February. Today she posted about her experience and opinions. I have to say I was very impressed, as well as agreeing with Debby on her opinions. I found it to be an excellent read, and you might also by *clicking* HERE.
It was warm enough today to put Mercedes and Buddy in the outside run.
"A fun game of "King of the Castle" was going on with Mercedes obviously being the dirty rascal."
Once I had settled in with a coffee, Lexus started barking. I can usually tell the difference in her barks, so I had thought I best go down to investigate. Oh my ! Buddy and Mercedes had pushed through the basement door and got back in. Hahaha ... Mercedes came running to see me, and Buddy had been at the door of the pen with all the Fabulous Four checking him out too. I wish I would have had a picture of that !
My Auntie Gladys came up to Wiarton to take my out for an early Birthday Lunch. The Green Door Cafe downtown Wiarton is our usual choice for lunch.
"I enjoy their Caesar Chicken Wrap with Homemade Fries, and Auntie went for the Bacon, Tomato Quiche with a side bowl of Carrot Cumin Soup. Dessert? we split an extremely yummy Fruit Crumble. Needless to say I was full. Thanks again, Auntie Gladys."
After lunch the plan was to go to Gateway Haven for a visit with Mom, as Auntie had not seen her for quite some time with Winter and everything else going on in busy lives.
"We had a really nice visit together. Auntie had taken Mom along a cute Shamrock Plant for her window sill."
Once our visit was through, Auntie dropped me back off home "North of Wiarton" then headed on home herself back to Port Elgin.
"Not only did Auntie "treat" me to lunch, she had also gotten me this beautiful Rose. The colours in it are amazing."
When having Lexus and Bandit out for an afternoon run, I had noticed the mail had arrived. Out I went to retrieve it once Lexus was put back inside. OH MY I had gotten some HAPPY MAIL today from my young friend, Lena of Frugal & Thankful !!! My dear was thinking about sending me off something nice to make my day and put a smile on my face, even when she has been "under the weather" herself. What a sweetheart that girl is.
"Lena had sent me the most amazing Notebook for blogging. It is "perfect" for jotting in ideas and notes. Thank you again, Lena! The "highlights" of my day were noted and put in my "Memories With Love" Jar to be opened New Year's Day 2014. There are going to be lots of good memories in that jar to read."
Winter has decided not yet to "leave the building", but then again it was only a couple of years ago we had Winter right into April.
"Yes there is our boy, "Bandit" with the "did you forget about me again Mom" look on his face. The afternoon was on and off clear and blustery with accumulations of maybe just over an inch of Snow."
I would like to make a mini tribute in honor of Stompin' Tom Connors, a well known Canadian Singer/Performer, from the East Coast. Tom Connors was a close friend of Jim Fordam and family in my Hometown of Southampton, even picking tobacco in the surrounding Farms at one time. Should anyone never hear of Stompin' Tom Connors I would be very surprised.
The Ferryman will mean something to everyone who lives in and around these parts of Ontario. More so in this area you will hear Tobermory, Hepworth, Georgian Bay referred to in the song, along with other familiar places in Grey Bruce Counties.
Rest in Peace Tom Connors, you were a beyond wonderful example of Patriotism of your Country of Canada !
It has been a really good day here, despite the return of Winter of course. I think it has never really left, awaiting in the shadows only to jump out at us again with a Blast. So much for my feeling a wee tinge of Spring Fever the other day, as today it was squished. On that note I think I will wrap it up to spend some time hanging out with my hubby, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".
what a wonderful day you had, really glad for you.
