Happy That Is Over

Last night felt like what a bit of HELL must feel like ....

I began the prep yesterday at 3 pm for the colonoscopy today.  By 6 pm I was pacing the hallway with the same pains I have been experiencing with the duct obstruction attacks I have been experiencing since having my Gall Bladder removed September 2nd.

It had took me some time to walk it out after gingerale and Ovol Gas Pills.

1 am arrived with me in the bathroom in so much discomfort I could barely stand it.  Finally I began throwing up, then again up at 3 am with the same thing.  The dogs hearing me up thought they should all be up and out too, so poor Rob was up both times letting our very pregnant Lexus out and in, as well as little Portia.

As if the nausea, throwing up and "other end" was not enough punishment a Sinus Headache struck me down as well, with the pain searing through my left eye with the pain causing my teeth and jaw to feel as if they were going to shatter.

I was praying for strength to get through this day.

Rob dropped me off for the appt, where it took well over an hour for the procedure to begin.  Staff at the Wiarton Hospital is fantastic, and compassionate I might add considering how many of the same cases they see day in and day out.  True people who got into their profession because they care about other Human beings in my eyes (makes you wonder about the ones who are in such jobs and don't give a diddly damn, doesn't it?).

When I was in the procedure room Dr. Caulfield asked if I was still experiencing the pain attacks.  Bless him for remembering Dr. Uffen had consulted him when I had been in emergency last month.  I told him I had went to have the MRCP this past Tuesday, and I had still been having the attacks.  Hopefully someone will be looking at the results soon, however I just might call Dr. Diodati's office tomorrow, my GP, to see if they have them back yet.

After I had came to and was revived the Nurse called Rob, and he picked me up at 12:45 pm.

I had 2 pieces of rye toast when I got home and went to bed.  Did I rest? heck no as of all days, Murphy's Law, the phone kept ringing, and of course and the dog's decided they needed to bark for some reason or another when hearing me talk on the phone.

My ID tag along with a tag in "red" listing my allergies.  My lounge wear I got into almost as soon as I arrived back home (an old Fantasia Sleepwear nightie), and the dreaded box of substance that makes you feel like you are going to loose your innards that I threw in the wood stove as soon as I layed eyes on it again.

Yes I can truthfully say I am happy that is over with.  The good news?  there had been no more polyps, and my headache is finally gone.  Better news?

... was that Rob made me the yummiest cheesy omelet that I have tasted in a long time.  Thanks Honey you are the Best Husband (most of the time) !

It is very handy having a hubby who cooks and doesn't mind doing so.  Now I think about it most men in my family don't mind cooking, such as my Brother Allan, my Uncle Basil, my BIL Cecil, just a couple who come to mind, including my husband.

After being set back the past three days I really need to play "catch up" again around here AGAIN, especially before those puppies make their arrival, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Very Quick

Just a very quick post this evening as I am not having a very good time with pain caused by the suspected bile obstruction.  I have been pacing the hallway for the past hour as sitting gives me great discomfort.  I am hoping this passes with me not having to go back to the Emergency Department.  I also have a headache that will not have me sit in front of my laptop for too long.

I had some running to do today.  I had some Christmas Cards to drop off to my Mother so this was to be included in the errand running.  I was up at the Nursing Home about 11:30, with my sister and her husband arriving just before I was ready to leave and Mom's lunch.  Visit was a bit on the short side but still a visit.

Mom looked great today, wearing a top I had gotten her some time ago.  She usually gets something she really likes and that is what she wants to wear day in and day out, so it was nice to see her switch her outfit up today.  I got her cards all organized for her in the card holder Aunt Gladys had sent up for her.  They look nice displayed.

I thought I might go a little further with this post, however I am in too much discomfort.  To add insult to injury I am also prepping today for a dreaded Colonoscopy we all have to face after the age of 50 hits us.  A very poopy situation that is truly very important in preventative measures to detect early stages of colon cancer.  A must but not the greatest when it will be my third this Year.

Need to learn more about Colon Cancer *click* HERE.

Hopefully I get some relief soon, and most importantly some kind of sleep this evening, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Some Days ...

Some days .... Life is just "poopy" for some of us now and again.  I suppose it is how we handle what is thrown at us is what makes the difference.  There are most days I like to think I am a pretty positive person, but there are many days were I just can't get myself out of a "funk".

Anyone who follows my blog posts knows that mere 4 weeks away I had a Colonoscopy performed.  Not even a week later I had a call from a "Specialist's Office" telling me I had been referred to Dr. Kaal as I had a polyp in a very "tricky spot" close to my colon wall, which the General Surgeon did not want to attempt to remove himself.

What happens next?  well here I am 4 weeks later scheduled for another Colonscopy with Dr. Kaal for tomorrow afternoon sometime in the Owen Sound Hospital after 1 pm.  Dr. Kaal assured me if he thinks he cannot remove it safely, he will not and I will be referred back to have it removed by Surgery.

I have to be quite honest I am feeling a bit anxious, which I suppose is very normal, should any of us be able to describe "normal" other then a Cycle on a Washer or Dryer.

I had put a Beef Stew into the Crock Pot earlier today, however forgotten to put in the Potatoes until later ... where am I going with this?  Well Dinner was not ready by the time Rob had arrived home, so he took me out for a lovely meal at the Green Door Cafe (truly it felts like my Last Supper, which since beginning the prep it really is).

One of Rob's customers had gifted us $50.00 to go have Dinner out on him this past week for a job Rob went over and beyond his duty to complete.  Nice to know when we are appreciated at times, is it not?

Rob had Deep-fried Mushroom and a Toasted Clubhouse with a side of Caesar Salad, and I had the White Fish Dinner with a side of veggies and a Caesar Salad.  Dinner was excellent thanks to Rob's appreciative Customer.

When we were leaving the restaurant we ran into my friend, Lynn, who was out on a stroll with her friend, then another friend came along.  It is really nice to stop on the street with friends to have a chat and few laughs.   It was Good for my Soul.

I am thinking I will probably not be getting too much sleep this evening.  By the time I arrive home late tomorrow I can well imagine I will be "pooped" out in more ways then one, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Back To The Bad, Good & The Ugly

Another Bad, Good & Ugly post, not necessarily in that order.  I must report I am still feeling under the weather, but from the previous few days there is finely some improvement in the battle of getting through this cold/flu bug, or whatever the heck hit me so hard last Saturday that has yet to leave my body.

The Bad is that Rob had been running a temp all day, with a great possibility that I shared with him.  I beyond feel for him for what is yet to come, minus prepping for a colonoscopy in-between.  Speaking of which that leads me to the topic of the Ugly .....

... this is where it all becomes UGLY once you begin the dreaded cleansing of the bowels in preparation for the next day, which is a breeze I might add in comparison.  Do NOT, and I stress DO NOT forget to take the Gas Pills as instructed or I have heard you will pay dearly (I took in them in fear of paying dearly).  Your best friend for the next 14 hours (at least) will be located in your bathroom, and the other one you might want to keep sipping on to stay hydrated.

This is approximately how much paper you will want on hand from start to finish ....

The Good is once you have been back to your Doctor having been cleared of not having any polyps means you are good to go for the next five years.  More Good being should you have had polyps removed, you have avoided the risks of Colon Cancer, and will have to follow up once again.  Either way is Good, being a Win Win situation of knowing by giving you bit of peace of mind after spending approximately 14 hours of it being Ugly.

Highly recommended after you have turned 50 years of age (I snuck out of it for five years, but it caught up with me eventually).

More Good .... how flattered and honoured I was to have been nominated and selected for a 2014 Volunteer Award for the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.  Special thanks for my Friend and fellow Chamber Volunteer & Director, Koreen Ryan, for the nomination, and the Town of South Bruce Peninsula for selecting me.

Although I could not taste anything properly at the Awards BBQ, Rob assured me it had all been very good.  As far as conversation at the table went?  very difficult unless I was right beside the person as I could not hear a thing out of my right ear.

My friend, Koreen, had also been nominated by the Wiarton Willie Festival Committee for all the amazing work she has done for the Festival on and behind the scenes.  We are pictured, as each Awarded Volunteer had been with the Mayor John Close, and MPP Bill Walker.

Each and every Volunteer honoured last evening were in well deserved in receiving a 2014 Volunteer Award.  The backbones of our Communities that bind our communities.

Each Volunteer were awarded with a Certificate from the Town of South Bruce Peninsula Mayor, Larry Miller the MP, and Bill Walker MPP.

Special thanks to my VON friends I used to volunteer up for coming out to give me their support.  Thanks Diane, BJ, Andrea, Chris, & Marlene it was most wonderful to have you all there for me !!!!  You meet so many wonderful friends when you Volunteer.

There that wasn't too bad, as I am certain there was more Good to all of that then Bad & Ugly, right?

Just a little cuteness to finish it all up.

I am still praying I start to feel 100% better by tomorrow, even though my ears and nose are still plugged solid and I have a headache that loves me to death.  I know that is an absolute big order, however Cindy's Recipe Exchange is having their 2nd Potluck Luncheon this Sunday, and I am so way behind with everything .... my house is a disaster and never mind me being organized on what I am making and taking to the Pot Luck yet !

Please do not let the house fall down around my head yet before I have a chance to get back up !!!!

Hopefully nobody will be coming by to visit until I have a change to recuperate 100% and get my house back into order, which will more then likely be a month of Sundays at the rate everything else seems to pile up on me from time to time ... yes there is now 2 months of Crabby Cabbie book waiting for me (AGAIN).

For some reason two year ago seemed like much simpler times for me???  Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Out Of Commission

It has not been a very good day all round for me today.  I am still feeling poopy, "poopy" going to be the operative word very shortly.  Rob stay clear of the bathroom !

Dr. Caulfield's office called today.  I had told her I was getting over a cold of five days, and she never said that would affect me going for my procedures tomorrow.  She also told me it would be okay to take Sinus meds or antihistamine if need be.  I am going to try not to, as taking meds on an empty stomach does not go over well either.  The coughing has somewhat subsided, however my back is killing me from spending so much time in bed I am guessing.

Once you have gone over the Magic Age of 50 years it is time to have a Colonoscopy.  I have avoided it for the past 5 years.  Actually it is good to have, as Rob had cancerous polyps a couple of times.  The Stats on Colon Cancer are very High according to Dr Caulfield.  You can read more about that HERE.

Not having anything to eat is having its toll on me, and once the "mixture" begins working, I will be out of commission from now until almost until before the lunch hour tomorrow.

I truly wish I could be more funny about the situation, but truly I am not feeling well enough to right now.

That is all she wrote, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.
