A Big Surprise !

It is that time of Year when you see many preparing and/or gathering whether it be squirrels, chipmunks, birds or other birds and/or mammals, in preparation for the upcoming Winter.

This is part of the reason I love growing Sunflowers when I can look out in our Yard at this time of year to the beautiful colour of the saucy Bluejays.

The Sandhill Cranes were congregating before their long trip South.  Find some interesting facts about their Autumn Migratory habits, just *click* HERE.

Out in my travels  today I also came across one of our pups from last Year's Litter from Mercedes and Buddy.  Rusty loves his walks with his human Grandpa.

Even though the weather seemed a bit gloomy today, my day was brightened up a bit with a beautiful Cala Lily my friend Pari gifted me, as well as the flowering plant I had bought for myself yesterday.  Colours and Life can tend to make one feel better at times, as well as the thoughtfulness of a loving friend.

I had a big surprise around Supper time when my girlfriend, Vicki, called to tell me my son Paul was on the Kitchener News.  We turned on to the Kitchener CTV station however had just missed it.  Then my sister-in-law, Delores, sent me a text telling me also Paul  had been on TV.

I tried a couple of times today to get up to see my Mother, however there seemed to always be something crop up to interfere me doing so.  Hopefully on the weekend I will get in, as I need to take her in a Tim Horton's coffee and also tell her the news of my Auntie Pearlina's passing.

I also decided today I would go to the Gateway Haven's Christmas Bazaar this Tuesday coming.  Should anyone else like to also attend the information is as follows:

I am going to call it a night here now, as I am feeling quite tired with it getting dark earlier and earlier not helping any, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

A Pleasant Family Surprise

I am pretty certain I was wide awake around 4 am this morning, and know for certain it was 5 am when Robs work phone rang loud.  He had to go out on a call.  I got up and stayed up.

I needed a hot coffee to warm myself with as it felt like Winter was just around the corner this morning ... brr.  Much colder then it was and that heavy dew would have been frost !

I was not too bad once I got going.  Did my usual first thing in the morning chores before I headed downtown Wiarton.  I was putting in a bit of time while waiting for my sister-in-law, Delores, to call.  They were coming up to Sauble Beach for a funeral as her husband, Darols brother, Garwood Hammel  of Wiarton had passed away.  I was meeting them there to also pay my respects.

I took some of my Homemade Black Bean & Corn Salsa down to my friend, Abby Miners, at the Wiarton Farmers Market.  This woman always makes me laugh no matter what ... I swear she really does mix up her meds !  Ha !

I did get the call from Delores, and headed on over to the Whitcroft Funeral Home for the visitation.  After paying my respects to the family, having a wee visit with our Nephew Jody and his wife, Lauren, and their children, and a bit with Delores and a hug to Darol, I made my way back home.

Driving home it hit me like a brick.  My muscles started pulsating and feeling heavy, as did my whole body did.  I got home where I attended to all the Aussie, then hit the couch to lay my head back to see if my muscles would settle down.  Finally after a couple of hours the pain withdrew to a dull roar from the heights it had been at.

By this time Rob was heading home.

The phone rang at 4 pm.  It was Delores, someone wanted to speak to me.  Ha ! the voice on the other end of the phone was Robs oldest brother, Wayne.  Him and his wife, Marjorie, had come up also to pay their respects.  Wayne wanted to know if we would like them to drop around.  Of course I did, as in the 10 years we have been here it was the first visit from them.

Rob arrived home shortly after I had gotten Waynes call.  We headed downtown to grab some burgers, as I really had nothing otherwise as quick to serve them up some Dinner before they headed back home to Elmira.

We had a nice little visit, as well as a dinner of burgers, coleslaw and a relish tray of homemade pickles.  They enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed having them.

When they were here, Rob called us out onto the deck where he was barbecuing the burgers to say the Crane was back today.

A way out in the field, but there he was, one of many Sandhill Cranes, who nest out in our bush.

Rob had to show his brother his Mennonite Van he had recently bought for a new cab.   Rob does like joking around.  This is a new to him Van he bought to replace his very first Old Blue Crabby Cabby Van he has had for the past 2 years.  Old Blue is still going strong with almost 400,000 km on it, so we thought we would rest him and only bring him out as backup when needed.

I made sure I got a photo of Rob and brother, Wayne, and one of Wayne and Marjorie before they left, as it indeed had been a pleasant family surprise that they had came to visit.

With Wayne and Marjorie heading South on their way back home, Rob and I sat on the front stoop together for awhile watching our youngest Australian Shepherd Female, Mercedes, run around having fun for a bit.

Rob has now left himself down the highway South with his Crabby Cabbie hat firmly set upon his head, while I stayed here behind to let the rest of the Aussies out and about for the last time this evening.

The wind got up and dark clouds rolled in with the Sun still in the West we had a Sun Shower.  Maybe there will be more rain later in the evening, but it was not serious enough that my laundry I brought off the line had still been dry.

YIKES !  I almost forgot ....

I am going to put my feet up, relax and call it a night in another hour or so here.  I have only two more sleeps before my trip when my friend, Toni with an i, and I fly down East.  I am getting pretty excited here, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

A Most Wonderful Visit With A Spectacular Pup !

I am day two into the 30 Day Squat Challenge with two more people up for the Challenge.  More squatters so to speak.  And Auntie, but doing diddly "squat" each day, as per your email, does not qualify you for the challenge .. hahahaha.

Thanks to, for joining along in the Challenge, Mum's Simply Living Blog and Suzy at Rustic Vintage Country.  To be quite honest I wasn't feeling them yesterday, however by the time I was done Day 2 I was feeling it a bit in my legs.  Remember you can split the number required each day up throughout the day, as well as using a chair to do the Sit and Stand, giving you pretty much the same results.  There is still time to "join along", just leave me a comment, or email me at justnorthofwiarton@live.ca  the More the Merrier !

"Whether they are the same ones, or not from last year, a pair of Morning Doves were outside our window this morning.  Also every morning and evening I sometime see, and always hear the Sandhill Cranes overhead or out behind in our bush ... they are very vocal.  My Cousin, Brad, took this photo last year up by Dyer's Bay."

I really hate to confess but I was out to the Cocoa Vanilla for lunch for the 2nd time this week ... *blush*.   Really it could not be helped as now friends, who had purchased one of our Checkerboard Aussies" Spectacular Six 2012 puppies, came for a visit today and we had to eat somewhere ....

"One thing I had not mentioned from past times I had been at the Cocoa Vanilla was that they support local Artists, displaying their work throughout the Restaurant.  Love the support towards others !"

"Today one of the girls tried out the Cookie Dough Latte, which she was very happy consuming .. does it not look lovely?  I had the Pork Spinach Soup, Greek House Salad and Chicken Cranberry Panini.  I was far from disappointed with my choices this day, as were the girls with theirs ... wonderful."

When Krystal, Bernadette and I had been downtown lunching we had left Injaca in the outside kennel run until we returned, then the fun began ... the Aussie Fun I should say.  Injaca and his mother, Lexus, had a blast together out in the field behind the house.  There are lots of photos, taken by Krystal, that I am just waiting to receive.  After a few rounds with Mama, then a meeting up with Daddy, Bandit, I think the boy was pretty worn out and ready to head back home ....

"Our "Checkerboard Aussies" Injaca, is most certainly a very handsome fellow.  He is one lucky dude pup to have such a loving Forever Home with Krystal and Bernadette.  I could not be more proud to have yet another such wonderful match made for one of our pups.  Thanks Girls ! xx"

Injaca and his wonderful owners headed back South on down the highway, while I took care of having everyone out, about and back in.  It had been such a beautiful day I had 2 loads of laundry hanging out on the clothes line.  Lexus went out to help me bring them in.  This took me a little longer then usual, as I was keeping someone amused by throwing ball between each item of clothing that was removed and folded into the basket.  I think this sign describes the situation around here most times very well ....
