Short & Sweet

I broke down last night and took a medication to help me sleep.  It worked giving me a sleep all night through until 5 am.  It truly felt good.  After all the Aussies had been looked after, a coffee in my system I then had a shower by 6:30 am.

This morning I had more running around downtown here and there.  I also had to pick up a few things at the grocery store.  Another stop was in at Rankin River Trading Co. as I had ordered a new Duvet Cover w/shams and a duvet last month.  The cover had came in yesterday.

It is Brunelli's Quinoa Collection.  Grey with Taupe and Cream.  Once my washing machine is fixed I will wash it up and get it on our bed to get a better photo of it.  I will put our Quilt which is on our bed now away again until Summer.

The temperature is to go up to 9*C the next day.  At that temp we won't need a duvet on the bed.  It is suppose to drop later Christmas Day and snow with high winds beginning tomorrow evening.

By the time lunch time had came and gone I started lagging.  I was tired with nothing the rest of the day getting done unfortunately.  After Christmas I need to pull the rag out and get something down or else ....

This evening we had planned to meet our Driver, John, and his Wife, Lori, for an evening out to Dinner at the Twin Dragon Chinese Restaurant in Owen Sound.  We met up with them at 7 pm and had a great dinner together.

Yesterday Lori had sent a tray of Christmas baking home for us, bless her soul, and this evening they had give us a card with a Gift Card for John's Fish & Chips in Owen Sound.  We will have to get together again with them in the New Year to enjoy that together.

Rob is hurting today from all they wood he did yesterday.  This is no surprise to me, poor guy.

Pssst.... only 2 more sleeps til Christmas Day !  *SMILE*

I am hoping I get another good night's sleep ahead of me, as tomorrow I have plans to get something done more then what I did today, so just a short & sweet post today, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Out, IN & Back Out

I can not believe how fast this day went by me .... especially since I had been awake since 12:30 am.  What made it worse when I got up for the 2nd time at 2 am the house was freezing since we had gone to be without putting a fire in the Wood Stove.  This did not work out too well for us this morning as it had been -7*C outside and only 16*C inside.  I was FREEZING !!!

By the time it got warm in the house it had to be about 3 pm this afternoon, and then it had been warm outside and really warm in here.  *Sigh* there are just some days no matter what it does not work out the way you wish it does.  This is the way the "cookie crumbles".

I made a quick call to my Sister, Donna, to get an update on her husband.  The medications he was prescribed after another trip into the St. Mary's Emergency Department in Kitchener helped him get some sleep last night.  His IV was hooked up correctly, and a Nurse comes into the home to check on it and him on a regular basis.  Hopefully he will be on the mend much sooner then later.

I must add to that I believe prayer works when it is meant to be.  I had been saying a prayer for a certain thing the other day, and this morning my prayer had been answered.  I was very thankful.  I try very seldom to pray and ask for something in particular, and more seldom anything for just myself, however there is one more thing on my prayer list I am asking for soon.  Hopefully it is answered and it will be all good for this particular pup I have in mind.

Once I had returned from my 9 am appointment with the Chiropractor in Sauble Beach, I made a quick stop into Rankin River Trading Co. downtown Wiarton.  They carry Paderno (made in Canada), who is having a Spring Sale with up to 75% Savings on select items.  I went in to check out a couple of things for my Girlfriend, Vicki, and also found another item for my other friend, Sharon.  Even better I found a couple of things I would certainly like for myself.

Just a few items on Sale at Rankins.  The flyer for this Sale may be found HERE.

Rankin River Trading Co. just recently got themselves a Business Page on Facebook.  Please drop by to give it a LIKE, but going HERE, should you be so inclined to do so.

When I arrived home my Niece Joanne arrived shortly after I had.  After a cuppa tea we headed out to the Wiarton Home Decor Store to check out some flooring ideas for her house.  We finally made it back by 1 pm to get some lunch made for ourselves, and of course, Rob.  Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Salad, and a side of Canned Beans (at Rob's request).

Joanne left for home mid-afternoon.  I had to go back downtown to the Bank, and stop back into Rankin River Trading Co. to pick up a Paderno Pizza Stone on sale for my one friend.  I stopped in to pickup my neighbour to go along with me.  Once we were all done my errands, we decided a beverage at Tim Hortons would be a good idea.  Most recently I had tried their Pumpkin Spice tea which I had thoroughly enjoyed.

Today I tried the Blueberry White Tea.  It was nice, but I still favour the Pumpkin Spice.

Again I headed back home, this time it had been after 6 pm.  Truly it has been an out, in & back out kind of day.

This kind of day does not afford me getting anything done in my home that I had my mind on getting done, so I am truly hoping tomorrow will be a more productive in my home, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Come & Go Celebration

Today was a busy morning, as I had to take my friend into work, then pickup another friend and take her downtown for shopping.  Time flies when you are having "fun", and the morning was almost gone before I had realized.

The Handicraft House is only minutes up the Highway from where we live.

When I returned back home there was time to take out all the Aussies, have a quick lunch, get showered and ready to head on South to my Hometown Southampton for a Come & Go 90th Birthday Celebration.

My friend's Mom turned 90 years old, and her family were having a Celebration for her at the Anglican Church this afternoon from 2 until 4:30 pm.  I meet up with my Auntie Gladys at 2:30, along with her best friend, Marnie.

Happy 90th Birthday Margaret !

Margaret was a Scottish War Bride, brought to Canada by her Husband, Basil Shular (now deceased), Mother of six children, Doug (now deceased), Stuart, Ross, Heather, Bonnie and Gord.  Heather and I had been best friends many years ago now, so I had spent many days and evenings at the Shular's home.

I also seen a few other ladies that I had known in years gone by, which is always nice.  Funny my Auntie and I both noticed all the elderly Church ladies serving, and wondered who will do this when they are gone ???   It will then be a lost generation? will we have to rally up people to bring back the Churches?  I wonder .... and yes if I had to I would be one of those people as the Church does bring members of the Communities together I believe.

That was the whole afternoon spent away, as by the time I had stopped for fuel, and again in town to take a couple of photos, it was 5 pm before I managed to arrive back home.

Photos?  of course photos, as Cathy of Cathy's Confections now has her handmade chocolates ready available downtown Wiarton at Rankin River Trading Co.

I LOVE Cathy & her homemade chocolates, and really I can't think of who would not.  If you are passing through Wiarton drop on in to get yourself some, or better yet yourself and more to make a great gift giving idea.  Not in Wiarton? well drop on into Harrington's in Southampton, as you will also find Cathy's Chocolate Creations there too.

Dinner?  that was easy peasy as one, two, three.

French Toast with local home grown Syrup from Dejong Acres Farm.  Oh yum, yum, yum.

I am all in but for my shirttail I am so tired.  My dear Rob worked all day yesterday, all night last night, and is still out working.  He is really tired.  At least I had his Dinner made before he had to go back out again, my poor dear.  No rest for the wicked, or really is it suppose to be "no rest for the weary"?

That all she wrote this day, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

The Beginning & The End

My day began at 2 am this morning.  The insomnia has apparently returned, but no worries with me truly believing how well I survived this day.  It not only started out with another beautiful day with billowing clouds up in the sky, it ended with an equally beautiful evening with a huge Moon..

Once again I had plans for my day, and once again those plans did not go as planned.  Really I am pretty happy that I do not let these things upset me as much as I once used to.  I can not change everything, so I have became more accepting of this fact.

What I did accomplish was getting 1/2 my bathroom cleaned, if one can imagine that (this is something has happens to me quite often lately).  I also got done a list I had prepared for the Crabby Cabbie meeting we were having with our Drivers late this afternoon.  This in itself had taken me a little bit.

What had interrupted my day was my darling hubby calling me to go downtown on an errand for him..  This wasn't really too bad as I had to go to our bank anyway, so it all came together for me.  When I was out it had crossed my mind there was something I had been wanting to see over at Colpoy's Bay which I had been hoping I had not missed out on.  A quick detour on my way back home did not lead to disappointment by any means ....

.... they were still at Colpoy's Bay which is minutes from our house.  I was "over the moon" to see they were here for me to capture their elegance.

Their stature and elegance captures and intrigues.

After my fill of beauty for this day, I had to head back home, prepare for the afternoon meeting to once again head back out the door for a late afternoon meeting in Southampton.

Today on Facebook it was totally awesome to see another of my favourite downtown Wiarton Stores had themselves a brand new Facebook page.  For those who follow my posts on a regular basis, will know the times I have been in at Rankin River Trading Co..  Should you have a Facebook Account, drop on by to give them a Thumbs Up with your LIKE on their Facebook Page by doing so HERE.

I know we appreciate new LIKES on our Facebook pages, so truly it gives a great sense of being when one is first getting started.

We had just arrived to the designated meeting place to see a lady fall on ice beside her vehicle, way across the parking lot from where we had parked.  Our newest driver ran to her aid to help her recovery herself.  A definite wonderful thing to do which told me plenty about his character by his act of kindness.

Our meeting was excellent.  Rob and I could not be more fortunate to have the guys we have work for us.  Even with a bad experience with one of our first drivers, these guys have made up for that tenfold.  I count my blessings everyday that we have them as our employees.  They are each down to earth, honest, caring and considerate, caring about us as a whole, rather then an attitude "what's in it for me".  Yes I do count my blessings (even though they are all men, and they seem to have that odd warped sense of humour my Rob has, but still I can live with calling them ours).

We arrived back home to find a message from my Auntie.  I called her directly hardly believing my ears that it had been her that had taken the fall !!!  Oh my .... we had been so far away that I could not make out who it had been, and she had also been driving my Uncle's new truck that I had never seen before Sunday in their driveway.  I felt awful, but not as awful as her poor body will feel after such a fall tomorrow.  The ice in some places is so treacherous, terrible even in our own driveway.  I am grateful that our new driver had ran to her rescue and more so that nothing was broken.

It had been late by the time we had gotten home ... dinner was simply a bowl of cooked macaroni with stewed tomatoes.  I loved this dish as a child, and still love it.

It has been a very long day, I am very tired with another busy (no surprise) day ahead of me tomorrow.  I need to be grounded and stay at home soon as there is so much to be done here, not running the roads away from, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".

Give Me A Church Turkey Supper Anytime !

I am praying I do not come down with whatever Rob is beginning to get over with.  I did not sleep worth a dang last night, again, getting up before 6:00 am.  Honest to goodness something came over me and I had to go back to bed just before 8:00 am, finally forcing myself to get back up to make ready for an appointment I had downtown this morning.

Once motivated and out the door, I shook it off for the time I was otherwise occupied.

Before my appointment I had a couple of stops to make.  First to see my friend, Gayle, who had been away helping her daughter the past two weeks.  I also needed to find a very large cardboard box, so the next stop was at Rankin River Trading Company.  I was very happy to have dropped in there as I realized they had their Paderno Sale running again.  I LOVE my Paderno Eco Ceramic Fry pan I bought pre-Christmas for myself last Year (on sale at an excellent price I might add, at Rankin's).

Truly so many great Kitchen items to choose from.  Should I have lots of money, and a huge Country Kitchen I have always dreamed of having all my life, I would surely equip it with one of everything from these Paderno Kitchen items displayed.

Paderno is also ALL Canadian Made.  Check them out, should you not be familiar by *clicking* HERE.

Rankin River Trading Company? check them out by *clicking* HERE.

Once my downtown errands and meeting had been finished up, homeward bound I was ... this was not to last too long, as my dear "Crabby Cabbie" called to ask would I mind going to Owen Sound for him.  How could I say "no" to him, as a business will only be as good as what is put into it, and this I have to support always.

I gave my neighbour, Pari, a call to see if she would travel along with me to keep me company.  I was happy Pari agreed to go with me as by this time in the day I had such head, neck and shoulder pain I needed company to divert my attention.  Not only that, Pari also had a couple ibuprofen that helped me make the trip as well.

By the time I had dropped off Pari to her home, and made it home myself, it was not long before Rob arrived home himself.  That did not last long as he got called out to do a trip to Owen Sound himself.

Thank goodness he made it back just in time to collect me, go next door to collect Pari, then head downtown Wiarton to meet up with my Auntie Gladys, and her good friend, Liz, who were meeting us at the St. John's United Church for a Turkey Supper at the pre-arranged time of 5:00.  I think we were 10 minutes late.

Auntie and Liz were kind enough to wait inside the foyer for us until we arrived so we could all go into the Church hall together.  Oh my what a Dinner it was !!!  Turkey, Stuffing, Turnip, Corn, Peas, Gravy and a fresh Dinner Roll, with Apple & Tomato juices on the table.  The turkey had been prepared locally by Sullivan's Meat Shop, Downtown Wiarton, while all the trimmings and desserts were prepared by the Ladies of the Church.  (PS the dinner roll on my plate, I passed over to Rob's place, otherwise there would not have been any room left for Dessert).

Auntie and Liz both had Dutch Apple Pie, Rob had Apple Pie, Pari had Pecan Pie, and I had Elderberry Pie.  There was not a complaint about anything .... it was ALL so very very good.  I was very impressed with attending our very first Wiarton Church Dinner.  It is not that we would not go in the past 10 years we have lived here, it was just we never had the opportunity to go in the past before now.  Looking forward to the next one we will be attending.

I was excited to find Rob had brought a sample home of what our stairs are going to be re-done with.  The stair we have are just awful in both material and how they had been built.  Not one of the steps are the same size as another.

The lighting was not too good this late in the day, however the Maple replacement will be much nicer then what is there now.  What was there before the pine steps?  then had been covered in Pink Carpet (as still is the stair gong further down to the basement)  The whole house had been pretty much "pink" ... we are slowly, very slowly, getting a few things changed up one by one, hopefully with our bedroom next on the list after this as it is in dire need of repair and change.

I am all in but for my "shirt tail" at the moment.  A couple of ibuprofen, a nice warm bed, and the TV tuned into MasterChef Junior is the order of the evening for this gal, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".
