Shrove Tuesday aka Pancake Tuesday aka Fat Tuesday

Not too much of an exciting day here today.  However out in the big World it was Shrove Tuesday today, or as it has been known to be also called, "Fat Tuesday".  Fatten ones self up before they give up something for Lent I would suppose?  Do you partake of Pancake Tuesday?

I can't believe I have not much to say, as I am usually never without something to say (for those who know me could validate this point).

Truly all I did today was a bit of Crabby Cabbie paperwork, a load of laundry, make the bed, do dishes, a bit of vacuuming, and go out and in with the Aussies a few times.

I left the house for a tip into Owen Sound.  The Haircut I had gotten Sunday at the Smart Style Salon was not exactly as I had expected to be, ending up looking like I had a "mullet".  The problem with my hair is there is a lot of it, however fine it might also be, needing more thinning out on top so it does not appear to be heavier then the bottom lengths.

When I went back into the Hair Salon the girl who usually cuts my hair was there.  She sat me down and went through it with another cut and some thinning out.  "NO CHARGE" .  I had no cash on me, so before I had left the Walmart store where the salon is located I went back out to my car and took in a $5.00 tip for her time.  She had already left as she had been clocked out when I had arrived, but the other lady assured me she would put the tip in Lisa's drawer for her.

The first cut from Sunday, and the second cut today.  Much lighter.

I know there were a few people following Semah's story when I was looking to re-home him after he had been returned to us at a Year old.  I just received some new photos of him the other day and thought I would share.

Semah getting a brushing by his Forever Human Mom, hugs from his Grandkid, & on Family Day he was out in his backyard playing fetch with his Forever Human day.  The boy has it made.

Semah is spoiled rotten by his Forever Home, and I am thinking Lords over that household..  These are assumptions on my part, but somehow I think I have correctly assumed.

Rob is still out working.  I am going to head out with the Aussies before their bedtime.  More puppy updates? check them out on their Facebook page by *clicking* HERE.

Girl's Day Out

I had wonderful plans to go for a walk after Dinner this evening however I was too dang, dang, triple dang tired that I could not move much more then I had to.

Today my girlfriend, Vicki, and I had a girl's day out together and it was fun.

First off we headed downtown to the Wiarton Farmer's Market were Vicki got to meet my friend, Abby Miners of Miners' Maple Products.  We are all on a couple Facebook groups together, so it had been nice for Vicki and Abby to actually get to meet in person.  Vicki got some garden fresh Garlic from Greg, one of the produce vendors at the market, and some fresh green beans from Lena, the other produce vendor.

Off we went towards Owen Sound, where I had plans to take Vicki to the same girl who cut my hair earlier this week.  The Smart Style hair shop is just located inside Walmart.  While we waited for Lisa to come back from her lunch we had a look about Walmart.

Vicki got a good 4 or 5 inches trimmed off her ends, while the other day I had my trimmed up and thinned out on top.  It always feels good to get your hair washed and cut, does it not?

Then onto the Dollar Store to get some cupboard liners for both our RV Motorhomes, and then into Sears as I needed new pillows for our RV and Sears had their Obus Pillows on for buy one and get the other one free.  Each pillow was $35.99, so at sale price I got two for that, but it even got better as ....

.... I had points accumulated on my Sears Card giving me $30.00.  After taxes the two $71.98 plus tax pillows cost me $10.00 and change after taxes.  Whoopee !!!  Now I just need to get some pillow protectors, as Sears did not have any that I had fancied.  Our bedroom in the RV will almost be complete.

After Sears we went across town, working our way back home, to another Dollar Store, the Giant Tiger Store, then finished up at the No Frills Store.  We ended up back in Wiarton at Lloyd's Smoke Shop & Pool Hall to treat ourselves to a homemade ice cream cone (shhh don't tell the guys).

We got home a few minutes before 5 pm to two hungry guys who wanted Dinner, and we were full of ice cream !  Rob had been downtown, seen our vehicle and guessed we had been out for ice cream.  Found out we were !  Still we made us a Dinner of BBQ'd pork chops, baked potatoes and fresh steamed beans.

Truly I had good intentions to go for that walk tonight, but as I have already stated I was just too dang, dang, triple dang tired out after our girl's day out.

After having the Aussies out I took a couple of minutes out to take in a bit of beauty on my way back into the house.

A Clematis Flower emerging, my Jade plant enjoying Summer after being dormant in the basement after a long Winter, and flowers clustered on the steps.

Almost 9 pm, with another new day waiting for me tomorrow, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Crock Pot Bone-In Chicken

My poor dear Rob did not get home until after 3 am this morning.  He went to sleep, I could not get back to sleep.  He got about 4 hours sleep, I had about the same.  We were both tired today, but the beauty of it we didn't even have a "crabby" moment with each other all day (well maybe one that lasted a split second on Rob's part).

One of the first things I had came across this morning was this .....

Amen.  We are blessed.

Rob and I wanted to make a trip into Owen Sound today, so this morning I thought I should get something prepared and into the Crock Pot.  I had some fresh bone-in Chicken Breasts and Cremini Mushrooms, so I went searching for a "new to me" recipe.

I found the perfect recipe for my needs.  I first seasoned the chicken, after removing the skin, then sliced mushroom and mixed the sauce.  Chicken went into the Crock Pot with the Sauce & Mushrooms poured over top.  The Crock Pot was set on LOW for 6 hours.

I still had some Cremini Mushrooms to be used up.  I sliced them up, threw them in a pan with a tad of Olive Oil and cooked them up.  After they had cooled, into a freezer bag & into the freezer they went for a future use.  Much better then left in my Fridge pushed to the back & possibly forgotten and thrown out later.  By the way these are one of my favourite mushrooms, as they are full bodied flavour and all round yummy, holding their form.

Rob and I headed out for Owen Sound around lunch time.  We stopped at TSC, Staples, Deals and First Choice Haircutters.  We had no breakfast nor lunch, so I told Rob I would be good to eat out but not junk.

We ended up going to Wendy's Restaurant where I tried the new Chicken BBQ Ranch Salad, which I would not hesitate to have again, and Rob opted out for a Grilled Chicken on a bun, with some not so healthy fries (he did good on his choice regardless of the fries).

After Wendy's we headed on over to Walmart where we picked up a few items.  When walking out I asked Rob if he would mind if I got my hair cut, as it had been so long since I had it cut I could not remember when the last time was.  The Salon was called Smart Style.

I was happy with my haircut, Rob was happy with the one he had at First Choice Haircutters, and Bandit? he is as hairy as ever so guess we should have taken him along with us maybe?

We had just gotten home around 5 pm when the Taxi phone rang.  Dinner was put off for another hour or so as the call had to be attended to.  Really Dinner was well worth waiting for and could not have been more perfect.

The Crock Pot Bone-in Chicken Breast with Mushroom Gravey was "Out of this World" in flavour and melt in your mouth tenderness.  I opted to serve it alongside Broad Egg Noodles, however Rice would have equally complimented this dish.  (I had used two very large chicken breasts rather then the 4 the recipe called for).

Recipe please?  FOR A PRINTABLE RECIPE *CLICK* HERE.  (Please do NOT tell Rob there was Sour Cream in this recipe, as he does not like it *smile*).

Rob and I had a great day together, thoroughly enjoying each others company.

The dishes are done up and I am feeling pretty much all in but for my shirt tail, as is Rob, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.
