Northern Confections, downtown Wiarton, were celebrating their 5th Anniversary yesterday. Between the hours of 7 and 8 pm they were giving away a free ice cream cone.. they have hard ice cream which I LOVE, as soft ice does nothing for me. I called up my girlfriend, Koreen, and we made a date.
"I absolutely love how inviting the Northern Confection's store front says "come in to sample our goodies", as there is not just ice cream, there are handmade chocolates and all sorts of yummy treats within its doors. Here is owner, Todd, topping up Koreen's "single" scoop. I was really enjoying my very first ice cream cone of the year outside the store front hanging with a friend, & colourful balloons having a few laughs. What flavour was that? Chocolate Peanut Butter that was "sinful" to right to the last lick".
When I had left the house, Mercedes' water had just broke. I had to leave her be, otherwise she had been jumping in and out of the whelping box with me being there.
"An hour & a half later I returned home to find 3 puppies, with a total of 5 within the next hour. All had been going smoothly."
"By 11 pm there had been a total of six puppies. I could not stay up any later to wait for more as I had a migraine that was calling for my bed."
I got myself into a fitful sleep after having had taken some medications. My dear Rob arrived home at 1:30 pm to wake me and drag me downstairs to see there had been two more puppies born, giving away to a total of 8 !!!
This day had not only been a first ice cream cone of the year, it had also been a first for Mercedes to have a first litter .... today it carried on HERE.
We are getting down to the nitty gritty with only 8 more days to Vote once every 24 hours ... YIKES !!!

The remainder of my evening will be out, about and in with my Aussies, a hot bath and a warm comfy bed directly after, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard."
