A Pretty Good Day

Last night my friend, Abby & I had ourselves a hoot at the Fundraiser, so much so Abby is looking forward to going again next year.  She had even tried her hand, or should I say "feet, at some square dancing.

Yes it had most certainly been a great Fundraiser last night at the Wiarton Propeller Club hosted by Julie Gamboa, Sue Given, BJ Guest, and Marg Tambling.
Everyone there had a "blast", not to mention lots of great snacks and beverages.
All proceeds will be going to the BPHS Foundation's "Walk to Create Possibilities"

Everyone got to see a bit what square dancing, Nia, VON, and lots of fun was about, and there had certainly been no lack of fun !

I had gotten home before 9:30 last night (I think).  I am not used to being out so late at night, unless I have been at a Chamber meeting of course.  It hadn't taken me long to hit the sack, sleeping until 5 am at least.

This morning I got going on stripping our bed, laundering the bedding and getting it hung out as it had been a lovely day.

I stopped myself to admire the Hostas out at the front of our house.  This is the largest they have been yet since first planting them a few years back.  Quite a show they are putting on now.

Rob and I actually got a couple of wee items organized out on the deck until he was called out.  Any little dent is at least a dent going forward I suppose.

I have been trying to make a point of going up to have lunch with my Mother every two weeks.  Today was one of those days.

Mom was happy to see me come in with a Tim Hortons coffee for her.  She loves her Timmies.  I took the first photo of her to send via text to 4 of her grandchildren, being Paul, Stacey, Jodi and Joanne.
Yes we also had a nice lunch together although neither of us cared for the Potato Salad or even ate it, but the Cheese/Tomato Sandwich and Jello Parfait had been really good.

This afternoon I had a couple of errands downtown after I had my visit with Mom.  I stopped by the Wiarton Farmer's Market to pickup some fresh Green Pole Beans to go along with our Dinner this evening.

Rob grilled one of my most favourite Dinners, which is Lamb.  Yes I do love lamb.  This particular over the top marinade I had found HERE.  What I changed up was the fact I put it on the rack of lamb in a ziplock bag overnight in the fridge.  Rob grilled it to a  med-rare perfection, which had melted in my mouth.  The beans and asparagus were done to perfection as well after I had steamed them.

Two of my highlights today were being proud of my Paul sending a photo via text for me to show his Grandma along with an "I love You", and myself accomplishing almost 5 miles in steps today.

After Dinner my friend Lynn and I had done over 6,000 steps out for a walk.  It is so much nicer having a walking partner, or should I say a "human" walking partner, as I do have lots of Aussie walking partners.

It had been a pretty good day overall, although I always wish I could have accomplished more then I had.

Rob has had a busy day, just coming home now.  Think we will both be putting our feet up shortly here, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Lunching With Mother

More things ahead of me today there was.  Before I left the house I did get the dishes done and our bed made.

I had an appt. with my GP, Dr. Diodati, at 10:45 am.  He was a bit on the busy side this morning so I really didn't get in until 1/2 hour after my appt. time, and then back out to my vehicle at 11:37.

The Doctor was quick to tell me how fantastic Rob has been doing with his weight loss and exercise.  It must be nice to see a patient be dedicated to going forward and away from getting diabetes, as Rob's numbers have dropped and he really is doing good all around.

We addressed my fibromyalgia and not sleeping issues again today by increasing the medications with another follow-up in a months time.  While I had been waiting for my appt. time Dr. Kaal's office had called me and booked me in for next week to address my stomach/liver/pancreas issues.

A scan had also been ordered for Rob's back as it is full of arthritis, and also needed to be addressed.

We are both very happy with Dr. Diodati, and his being thorough with wonderful bedside mannerism as well.

After leaving the doctor's offices I headed over to Gateway Haven to meet up with my Sister, Jeanne, and her husband, Cecil.  We had decided we were going to have lunch with our Mother today.

We had a nice bit of a visit together over lunch.  Mom is always happy to see us.

Not to mention what an awesome lunch we had.  Mom had the Egg Salad Sandwich with a Cucumber Salad on the side, with jello for dessert, while the rest of us had Chicken a la King with carrots, a Corn Muffin, and mixed berries for dessert.

I got back home to enjoy a coffee before heading back downtown to another appointment I had this afternoon.

I had been very happy today as Rob ordered the new window for our bedroom.  Progress is being made !  hooray !!!!  That should be a couple of weeks by the time it is custom made and come in.  After it is installed I will then be able to think about painting the room and putting the new carpet down ... maybe maybe maybe it will be all done before Summer?

Before I had went to my appointment this afternoon I had put a small roasting chicken in the oven for our dinner.  Rob had put potatoes on to cook just as I was coming home, and I steamed cauliflower to go along with it.

Dinner was not only simple, but had been simply delish too.

I have been thinking all day about what I am going to be wearing to my son's wedding in July.  I figured I was going to settle with the dress I had purchased a couple of months ago, deciding I didn't need a long Mother of the Groom's dress.

This is a Black dress with some nice "bling" on the neckline and will only require a nice blingy bracelet and sandals to finish setting it off.  Should I loose a significant amount of weight prior to the wedding then I might consider purchasing a different dress, however in the meantime I will remain my cheap frugal self and be satisfied with what I have and count my blessings for that.

Rob has already gone to bed as he had a very late night last night.  I will be not long heading there myself as I have to be out the door by 7 am  in the morning to attend a Breakfast meeting.  Rob will  have to hold down the fort for me first thing, as well as look after our Aussies, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Family Day 2015

Can you friggin' believe it was -30 *C (-22*F) this morning when I was outside with the Aussies. The Dodge Van groaned & moaned but started, however the Venture and Montana needed to be boosted.

Good thing Rob purchased a Battery Pack at Canadian Tire yesterday.

Since today was Family Day I thought what better time to go visit my Mom and have lunch with her. The Hepatitis A scare was over and the ban lifted for the Nursing Home yesterday.

Mom has always gone right by the exact minute.  Meal time? she was gone like a shot with me bringing up the rear.

We not only had a nice visit we had a really good lunch as well.  She liked the new leather change purse I had bought for her Bingo money.

Yesterday when we were out shopping in Owen Sound I came across a coat rack for $9.99.  I grabbed it as the hooks were worth more then that if we were to make one.  Since we are both in and out so much, Rob with the Taxi & me with the Aussies, it is a pain to constantly hang up our jackets in the closet.  Yes I have been getting tired of them draped over the dining room chairs.

While I was gone Rob put it up for our jackets, and I have to say I am very pleased with it.

We were thinking about going down to the city today, however with it being so cold we would have came back to our house freezing cold once the wood stoves had burned themselves out.  We decided to stay home and enjoy our day here together.

We took Bandit & Portia out the back for Portia to have a big off leash run (this does not happen undersupervised with her being so young and the highway so close to our house).  They were both very good and anxiously waited to each get a treat.

They had themselves lots of fun !

Dinner this evening was Roast Beef with red potatoes (my favourite), peas and carrots, all done in the Crock Pot with the exception of the peas.

Never mind the Roast Beef, my plate is usually 3/4 full of vegetables.  Yes I LOVE me some veggies.

How was your day if you were able to have today as a Family Day?

Other then the headaches from the cold temps and the brain freeze it has been a pretty good Family Day for us today, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.
