A Rainy Blah Blah Day

What a weather change from the past week to wake up to rain, damp and cold.  The bright side, besides there not being any Sunshine, is that it isn't snow and we need the moisture.

I was off to my usual weekly Doctor's appointment North of the Checkerboard.  By the time I finished up with that, I headed down into Wiarton for a bit.  I did manage to return home just before the Lunch Hour.

Regardless of it being a rainy blah blah day, there still can always be beauty found in it somewhere ....

.... and cuteness.

With the Internet at your fingertips there can also be lots and lots of "stuff" to educate one's self with .... some old ideas and some new.

21 USES FOR EPSOM SALT - We use epsom salt a lot at our house .
It is a good source of magnesium and has dozens of household uses. Here are our favorites:

As a relaxing Magnesium Soak – Add at least 1 cup of epsom salt to a warm bath and soak for 20 minutes.

Splinter Removal- Soak in concentrated epsom salt water to pull out a splinter.

Magnesium Foot Scrub- Make a homemade magnesium scrub (recipe here) for a boost of magnesium and super soft skin.
Ingredients
1 cup of epsom salt
¼ cup olive oil or almond oil
1 teaspoon liquid castille soap (optional, makes texture slightly smoother)
10-15 drops of essential oils

Better Vegetables- Add a tablespoon of epsom salt to the soil below a tomato plant to boost growth.

Facial Wash- Add a pinch of epsom salt to your usual face cleaner (or to your oil cleansing routine) for a skin exfoliating magnesium boost.

Tile/Grout Cleaner- Mix equal parts of liquid dish soap and epsom salts and use to scrub tile and grout. Rinse well for a streak free shine.

Body Aches- Add 2 cups of epsom salt to a warm bath and soak for at least 20 minutes to help relieve muscle sprains and for a transdermal magnesium boost.

Homemade Sea Salt Spray- Make your own sea salt spray to add texture and volume to hair

Water House Plants- Help house plants grow by adding a couple tablespoons of epsom salt to the water when you water them.

Volumizing Hair Mask- Combine equal parts of conditioner and epsom salt and leave on hair for 20 minutes. Rinse well and let air dry for thicker hair.

Foot Soak- For a concentrated magnesium boost, add 1 cup of epsom salt to a hot foot soak and soak for 20 minutes.
Get rid of slugs- Have slugs in your garden or on your patio? Sprinkle epsom salt to deter them.

Making Magnesium Lotion- Using magnesium flakes is a better option, but in a pinch, you can use epsom salt to make homemade magnesium oil (recipe here).

Laxative- For occasional constipation, a teaspoon of epsom salt dissolved in water can help. Check with a doctor first.

Beautiful Roses- Add a tablespoon a week to the soil around rose bushes before watering for faster growth.

Soil Prep- Before planting, we add a few bags of epsom salt to the soil in the garden and water in to help replenish soil magnesium levels.

Headache relief- There is evidence that soaking in a soothing epsom salt bath may help relieve headache.

Smooth skin- Mix 1/2 cup epsom salt with 1/4 cup olive oil and scrub skin in the shower for healthy and smooth skin.

Itchy Skin or Bug Bites- Dissolve a tablespoon of epsom salt in to 1/2 cup of water and cool. Spritz on itchy skin or apply a wet compress to help relieve itching.

Minor Sunburn Relief- Use the same ratio in the itchy skin relief above and spritz on to minor sunburns to help soothe them.

Help Kids Sleep Better- Add a cup to kids’ bath water before bed to help them sleep peacefully.

It has been pretty much a kind of lazy day with still feeling a bit upset with the new medications.  It has been that kind of day.  Still I am happy I am here, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".

I Almost Forgot !

This day was put aside, as I was in no condition to do much of anything other then take our Aussies out, about and in, other then maybe a 1/2 hour of paperwork.  I haven't even made the bed yet.  When that happens you really know something is wrong with me !!!

Last night I had to go to bed at 6:30 pm, sleeping right through pretty much until this morning.  I had to go back to bed, wherein I slept from after 9 am until 11 am.  With no energy I was back and forth twice this afternoon to bed.  Good thing when a friend dropped over to see the puppies this afternoon, it had been between my being in bed.  Jeez I wonder if she noticed my hair hadn't even been combed out.  Wouldn't matter as she is a good friend, non-judgmental and understands things like this.

I do not know what is going on with me, but I can tell you I do not like it one iota.  I am drained.

I can not believe how many times the thought went through my head in April, with me ending up forgetting that as of April 23rd, 2013 ....

"I broke my habit of smoking and quit Four Years ago on the 23rd of April."

Believe you, me, there have been many times where I have been tempted to have a cigarette since quitting.  Then I think about my Asthma, how much I hate the smell of it, my clothes smell better now, only smelling of smoke from the wood stove from when it has backed up on occasion  *sigh*, and that I do not have to stand out in the freezing cold in the Winter to have a smoke anymore.  I hate cold !

It is one habit I am thankful that I was able to beat, as it is not an easy task for some of us.  Actually I am very grateful that Rob and I never killed each other when I quit.  He had also tried to quit without succeeding, but when he was trying to quit there were days it sure wasn't a pretty sight around here.  Thank God we love each other is all I can say to that.  Ha ! now we only have to deal with menopause, among a few other obstacles Life insists on throwing at us from time to time.

The most excitement I have had here all day, other then my friend and her daughter popping in to see the pups, was my gazing down at the Everything 8 puppies throughout the day.  I could stand there most of the day watching on, even at barely 4 days old.

Have a look see yourself HERE, and tell me if you could tear yourself away after only a couple of seconds.

We are getting down to the nitty gritty with only 5 more days to Vote once every 24 hours ... YIKES !!! my fingers, toes, and eyes are crossed.

Because of YOUR support and daily votes we are now at 868 Votes 48 more then yesterday.  We are averaging about 40 new daily votes.  Remember you can only vote once within a 24 hour period or the vote will not take.

Oh yes and the newest "newsy" part of our lives... we are taking an enormous Leap in Faith by having had branched out this week.  Your prayers and support in our newest adventure are not only needed, but appreciated.  Thank you in advance, as I know many will be rooting for us.

"The "Crabby Cabbie" is now Serving the Wiarton & Surrounding Area as of the 6th of May.  Please spread the word ... we look forward to YOUR business.  Thank You."

YIKES !  maybe I am a whole lot little bit on the stressed out side, with taking another big step out in Faith, but a Wife has to encourage, support and believe in their Husband, and I do believe in MY Husband.

On that note, one more tidbit of cuteness of brother and sister snuggled side by side ....

...and, once again,  I am off to take my gang out, about and in, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard."
