Nasty Business Those Allergies & Sinuses Are

Sunday, a day of rest and enjoyment or ....

Going to bed the night before and awaking, once again, feeling like you want to cut your head off from the shoulder does not make a great start to any day.  Sinuses, caused most likely by allergies and/or climatic weather changes, can take a person out for the better part of a day.  This how my day was today.

Tylenol 2, Ibuprofen ... there was no help for me this day.  I felts sick to my stomach at times with the pain getting the better of me.  First thing when I got up I did the Nedi-Mist, as well as my prescription nose spray which gave me enough relief to go out and do some Crabby Cabbie work while Rob got some much needed shut-eye since he had not arrived home until 5:30 am.

Apparently I was not the only one feeling under the weather today.  My youngest Son, Paul, ate something causing him to have an allergic reaction with his tongue swelling.

My poor baby boy out like a light after his girlfriend, Elizabeth, who happens to be a Nurse, had given him a double dose of Children's Benadryl.  Unfortunately he is taking after me in the Allergy Department, as well as his good looks ... *Smile*.  I just recently spoke to him and he is feeling much better now, but I am happy he, as do I, has an EpiPen.

Once I had returned back home around 10:30 am, we had decided to make a trip back to Owen Sound, as we needed some shopping and today was the only day we had any time to do so.  Off we went, pain and all.

Rob & I went shopping at Walmart to take advantage of all the fruits they had on "special" this week, such as Peaches, Pears, Gala Apples, Blueberries, Musk Melon, and Bananas.  It is going to be a "fruity" week around here this week.  On the way back home Rob's curiousity got the best of him, so he had to stop to check out this Van.  Really? do you think we could use one to add to our Jeep and 7 other Vans already sitting in our drive?  *Sigh* I think not.

Once back home it took some doing to get everything we had purchased put away.  I had some apples on the counter that needed badly used up.  I got going on making Rob a pie.

Want something not sweet and tart? then this is the Pie for you.  Layer apples on bottom crust, cover with Cherry Pie Filling, top crust on, 425*F for 30-40 minutes and "Voila" .. except I wasn't paying attention and let the crust get a little dark on the edges (cover crust with foil on edges).  I love crust anyway so no mind to me.

Once the Pie was out of the Oven cooling it then was time to think about getting our Dinner going.  I had taken Chicken Kebobs out for myself, and a steak out for Rob.  We needed a side or two of veggies since I hadn't put a Potato Salad, as planned, together earlier this morning (really though who had time?).

Sauteed sweet onion in a wee bit of Olive Oil, added chopped tomato and Zucchini that had been scooped out & chopped, a bit of Garlic Salt, Black Pepper, Oregano & Basil to taste, cooking until soft.  Into the scooped out halved Zucchini it went topped with some Light Old Cheddar Cheese to be placed on the Grill.  Chicken for me, Steak for Rob and sides of fresh Garden Beets and Grilled Stuffed Zucchini.  I LOVED it all.

I am tired, as sleep does not come easy for me with pain haunting it most nights.  I have my fingers, toes and legs crossed that another dang, dang, triple dang Sinus headache does not invade yet another of my days tomorrow, as I know in my heart this too will pass and there will be happier days ahead ...

  2. I so feel your pain with those allergies. My sinuses are full, need to hunt out the nasal spray to see if I can clear the nasal passages out which in turn clears out my ears.

Hang in there, the frost should be here in a couple of months (SIGH)

  3. Do you have to put any flour or butter in that pie? It looks good and probably a nice change from only apple.
