Made It Through

I made it through this day, by the skin of my teeth I am sure, but still I made it.  I managed to get a very small grid cleaned up today, and a couple of items I sold as well.

These two areas only need to be washed down now as they have been dusted and vacuumed.  The Rattan Table, as well as a plant stand I sold on a swap this morning.  I have little by little begun the chore of removing clutter from my life (again), however until I start feeling better it will take some time to happen since I am SO BEHIND.

Aiden and Connor are at Liz and Paul's for this week.  Liz and her cousin, Vivi, were out to a mall today and were very very brave as you can see by this photo Vivi took of Liz with ...

.... six children !  they most certainly were very very brave in my books.  Good job Vivi & Liz !!!  Truly though they are all pretty good kids.

This afternoon I slept AGAIN.  Regardless I am happy I accomplished something rather then nothing at all.

Tomorrow is Canada Day, July 1st.  Do you celebrate?  we will wait until all the kids come up and do some fireworks with them, as it is more fun then just Rob and I.  Hopefully by that time the mosquitoes will not be so bad as they are now.

Time to sign off for now with hopes of an even better day tomorrow, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

A New Appointment

I was sleeping by 7 pm last night until before 4 am.  I finally got up by 6 am, despite my body telling me not to.  Thank goodness for our Aussies as there are many days I am certain I would never get out of bed lately.

I had to go for 8 am to the Wiarton Lab to give more blood for Genetic testing for Cancer, since there has been so much in my Mother's side of the family, and also in my Father's side as well.  More on that can be found by *clicking* HERE.

After I gave a couple tubes of blood to a very friendly needle poker at the Lab, I signed in to Emergency to see my Doctor.  I have been going downhill, more then uphill the past couple of week with the fatigue.  When I arrived back home about lunchtime with a new prescription I spend most of the afternoon on the couch again.  Am I rested? far from it as I feel totally exhausted, and I have so much to get done, but really too tired at the moment to care.

Dr. Diodati stated I have much going on in my body right now, making it difficult to "pin down" the main source of how I am feeling as menopause, Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis have many similar symptoms.  I feel I am on overload with pain and fatigue.

I did get a call also this morning that I have been booked with a Rheumatologist in Barrie on the 9th of July.  I made a call to my girlfriend, Brenda, who said she had no problem driving me there and back, as I wouldn't trust myself at this time with how I have been feeling.

I read up on the reviews for Dr. Haaland, which are mixed.  The only thing I am concerned about is the long wait time once you arrive for your scheduled appointment.  A long drive and then to wait for another 2-4 hours just will not go too well for me.  I will call his office tomorrow to confirm my appointment and ask about the wait time then.  My appointment is at 2:15, and I really hope we are back home at a decent time after driving so far in the first place.  Time will tell.

My Auntie & Uncle stopped by to drop off a gift for the Wedding this upcoming weekend.  I feel so terrible about the state of my gardens and home, I hadn't even invited them in, not only because of that but the fact I was too tired as well.

I came across an article on RA on a Facebook Page I LIKE, and took great comfort in reading the article I had came across that may be found HERE.  Hopefully by me sharing it can help others as well with Chronic pain issues.

There are many days when I feel awful that I use up much energy appearing to put on a "face".  Many people with chronic pain have learned to do this, otherwise I am certain many would not want to bother much with us.  Fortunately I have some very good family and friends who are very understanding and empathetic.  I am most certainly blessed in that area, and that I am very very grateful for.

Here it is 7:26 pm, and I find myself ready for bed.  I will first get in the shower then head off shortly afterwards there then, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Not The Best Day

Sleep was not good, fatigue was not good, frame of mind was not good, so truly for me it was not the best day going.  However on a good note, I did survive it.

First thing this morning I had to travel into Owen Sound, by the time I returned back home I was on the couch again.  Later I forced myself up to go downtown to do a deposit then walk up one side of the street and down the other, stopping in at the Berford St. Artisan Co. to browse momentarily.

I also forced myself to plant a couple of flowers in pots, and after dinner thought I could be okay enough to go for a walk, however I an too tired.

Yesterday a whole day passed with no sunshine until the very end of the day and it had been stunning

On that note I am going to call it a day by heading off to bed, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

A Couple Of Items

What a gloomy day this day has been.  We were promised sunshine however had overcast skies every second of this day.  Rain? only a few specks here and there, barely anything that can be felt, however it is suppose to be heavy this evening and tomorrow, should the forecast be correct..

I sure wish I had such a good paid job, and be able to be wrong so often, you too?

This morning I did a few errands downtown Wiarton.  I dropped into the Salvation Army Thrift store and got a couple of items for the Gazebo.

I got the glass pitcher to set the plant in, the pottery pot with candle and the leaves for the crock jar all for $1.00, which made me very happy.

Rob had also put the rooster hangers up so I could hang out the bird seed and hummingbird feeders.  I also have the bird bath hanging, however not where I want it, and it has seeds in it as I had been feeding the Red-Wing Blackbirds from it earlier this week.

I had also made a trip into Owen Sound.  We needed a storage bin for outdoors to put in our outdoor furniture cushions in for when it rains, and to store throughout the "off season" months.

Canadian Tire had this until on sale for $30.00 off.  I am pretty certain it will suit its purpose for us quite nicely.  This was not cheap, or so I thought it not to be, however something that should last us for quite some time (I hope).

When I returned home after lunch I was exhausted.  Yes the couch has been my usual spot the past few weeks.  This truly really bothers me, however I have no energy to do anything about it.  I am hoping next weekend I have lots of excitement and adrenaline to keep me fuelled for the whole day and evening of the wedding.  Prayers going up that I do.

After getting up around 5 pm, I forced myself to head out for a walk, taking Portia along with me.

On the way out by the side deck I was instantly grossed right out when I sighted a next of spiders... I HATE spiders !!!  The walk went very well with an exceptionally well behaved Portia, who was pooped out on the way back home.  Yes I did manage to get my goal of 10,000 steps in today.

While I had been in Owen Sound I had stopped in at the Foodland store there as they had a 2 lb. container of fresh blueberries on sale for $4.99, and Rib Steaks on for $7.77 per lb..

Rob had dinner ready for us when I arrived back home from my walk.  The Rib steaks were fork tender ... so yummy.  Can you guess which plate is Rob's?

When I had been out on my walk I had a call from Liz.  I was telling her a week from today she would be an old married woman of 2 1/2 hours by that time.  Poor girl, Paul had been driving her in for her 12 hour night shift at the hospital, she has been so wedding planning stressed along with regular life duties she was beat before starting her shift.

Our son soon to be Mr. Liz Morelli ... hahahaha,  drove poor Liz  into work this evening with her falling asleep on the way.  I sure know how she feels as far as being fatigued.

I almost forgot I had bought tickets this Year for the local Dream Draw Lottery, which is in support of the BPHSF, and also sponsored by local businesses.  More on this can be found by *clicking* HERE.  I sure would be happy to win either 1st or 2nd prize, and really happy even if I won something.

I sure wasn't feeling too well this afternoon, hoping I feel better with more energy tomorrow, as I have INSIDE stuff that HAS TO BE DONE tomorrow.  On that note signing off for the evening, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Another Gorgeous Day

What another gorgeous day this day was !  a full sky of sunshine along with a gentle breeze made it perfect to be enjoyed from morning until night.

The only thing which messed up this day was those things that fly around and draw blood, known as the Mosquito.  How can something so little cause so much havoc for some of us, especially those of us who are allergic to their bites.  My husband hates them, but then again who does like them?

Mid-morning I met my friend, Cathy, downtown, as she had a couple more quilts to give me.

Thanks Cathy for your thoughfulness !  I had a quilted jacket which I gave to Cathy, as she had the same one years ago and missed it.  It is nice when people can make each other happy with just the little things that count so much, is it not?

This afternoon I got started on working on the outdoor living area on our deck.  If nothing else I am going to make sure one spot "clean & finished".  Or should I say, "almost finished", as there are a couple more boards Rob has to put up, and the new BBQ needs to also be brought up from the basement.

Late this afternoon I had to head back downtown, as I had already been down there this morning, to see Wenda at The Painted Turtle & Balloon Headquarters about which necklace I had decided on for the wedding next weekend.

The set has been complete with another bracelet, necklace, and a pair of earrings, all custom made by Wenda herself.  Thank YOU Wenda ! you rock girl !!! xx

More about The Painted Turtle & Balloon Headquarters can be found by *clicking* HERE.

We had a late Dinner this evening, however was finished up at 7 pm.  It had most certainly been worth the wait.

Grilled Pork Tenderloin with a side of fresh steamed Green Pole Beans purchased from the Wiarton Farmer's Market this morning.  DELISH !!!

After Dinner I headed downtown to meet up with my friend, Lynn, to go walking with.  We completed 7,000 steps this evening.  Total steps I did today were 11,267 = 4.5 miles, or 7.24 kilometres.

The reality of my afternoons when I "crash" with exhaustion.  I have to rest, or sleep, to regain energy for Dinner and to walk afterwards.  This is also me after I get up in the mornings as well most days.

And yes don't you LOVE that amazing feeling too when you head off to bed each night ???

That is all she wrote this day, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

A Change For Me

Rob was out the door before 7 am this morning, with me not too long behind him just after 7:30 am.  He went in one direction while I headed the other way towards Owen Sound, as I had a hair appt. at 8:30 am bringing on a change for me.

I had my appt. at Shear Experience with Susan, who I loved when she had cut fixed my hair a couple of months ago.  I was going to get foils to highlight my hair for the upcoming wedding (ONLY 9 days away).

I absolutely LOVE how my hair was done.  Just think it didn't seem that many years ago I was much much more "natural" blonde then what these highlights gave me.

Now the debate is on as to whether I leave my hair down for the wedding or have it pinned up?  anything thoughts?

After being in the chair for over 2 1/2 hours this morning I was in quite a bit pain and discomfort in my neck, and truly the pouring rain did not help with other body parts or the headache.  I was happy when I was done and got to meet up with my friend, Sharon, for a coffee afterwards.  She was very kind enough to lend me her silver clutch to go with my wedding ensemble.  Thanks Sharon.

This afternoon after I arrived home at 1 pm I had a 3 hour crash on the couch, so needless to say nothing but the bed was made today.  This evening I attended a Business After Hours event at Chamber Member, Rural Rootz.  A lovely venue and a "must see" if you are in the area.

To learn more about Rural Rootz in Wiarton, please *click* HERE.

Dianne Adams, a just new Wiarton Chamber Member, who does Yoga, as well as a variety of other healing arts, had been giving mini demos of Tai Chi massage to people in attendance this evening.  Dianne teaches at the Rural Rootz "Tree House".

Rob had a mini massage, and really found relief in the short time Dianne generously afforded him.  Thanks Dianne !

We had fun at the Business After Hours.  Here is my friend, Wenda of The Painted Turtle and Headquarters styling it up.  Can you see Dianne? matching up her yoga pants with Wenda's top?  too much fun !  I also won a door prize of a $20.00 Gift Certificate from Luscious Bakery & Deli in Wiarton  ... whoohoo !

More on Luscious Bakery in Wiarton & Sauble Beach can be found by *clicking* HERE.

We did not arrive home until after 8 pm this evening.  Needless to say I am very tired and almost ready to call this day a "wrap", Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Getting My Walk On

3 am came pretty early, but other then getting up to the bathroom, I stayed in bed until 5:30 am.  Rob was up early and out the door before 7 am, and I was out the door by 8:30 am.

This was the view across our field looking towards our bush line around 6 am.  A beautiful morning.  The chart below it denotes how to care for a Hummingbird feeder.

The Hummingbird nectar/temp chart I found, along with other great tips, is on line by *clicking* HERE.  We must take good care of these little wonders of joy, yes?

I had to lay down again this afternoon since my energy level today was at a low.  After Dinner, I made myself text my friend, Lynn, who was on for going out for a walk.  I have to push myself to walk on a regular basis as I know it will help me with my health and energy levels better then not.

Yes I have been trying my best by getting my walk on ....

My average as increased to 7726 daily steps from 5000 last week.  I am gaining momentum little by little.

Just think once I get my energy pockets built up, teach myself how to pace myself (which I have been told to do the past few years) and begin somewhat of a routine with my life again, I will hopefully also increase my average daily steps.  This is what I hope to accomplish.

Hopefully I also get my ZEST for Life back sooner then later, as it has seemed like it has been a long time lost.

That is all she wrote, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Getting There

Hopefully tonight will be better in the sleep department however still I must admit last night was much better then the previous evenings as I woke at 3 am instead of 2 am.

I also had more energy this morning then yesterday.  I got the bedroom and bathroom tidied, the bathtub cleaned and even treated myself to a shower.  We also headed over to the garage to pickup our one van from getting an oil change and muffler fixed.

Like myself lately, everything has been going slow, however slow we are getting there ...

The Gazebo has a solid floor with an outdoor carpet and the furniture there, however not yet set up.  The old set is the white wicker, and the new set we just purchased is the darker "wicker look".  I am itching to get it all "just so" but that will come in time I hope so I can enjoy it this Summer.

This afternoon brought an onslaught of fatigue with it.  I had to crash for a couple of hours on the couch.  This is so unlike me to be doing this on a daily basis, and I am finding it very frustrating.

Late this afternoon I sent a text to my friend, Lynn, who agreed she would go for a walk with me.  I had to force myself to go just because I know I have to somehow keep moving.  It is much easier to have someone to walk with as the time flies by and helps take the mind off the pain and fatigue.

I decided to take the "problem child", Portia with us today.  It is funny as since we first got her we had set her on the floor in front of me on the passenger side.  A year later and she still gets in and stays on the floor ... it sure works for us.

I have 70 more steps to go yet today to make it to my daily goal of 10,000 steps.  I am confident I can get that many in hopefully before bedtime.

This evening I took some time to read more on Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia.  Knowledge is strength, but still sometimes I get discouraged from what I read.

Like any Chronic illness, a good support system is imparitive.  I have a couple very good family members, and friends, who have been very solid for me.  I sound like a broken record day after day, however for some reason speaking about the pain does for some reason give some mental relief.

This I can relate too, more then I care to admit:

Living With Rheumatoid Arthritis & Fibromyalgia

Both RA and FMS can make your life extremely difficult and limit how functional you can be. By finding and following a treatment/management regimen, you may be able to preserve your functionality and independence.
Because both conditions can lead to depression and isolation, it's important for you to have a support system. Keep lines of communication open with your doctor and the people you're close to, and get early help if you think you're becoming depressed. Support groups -- both online and in your community -- may be a big help to you, too.
The above information was taken from HERE.  I can't express how important it is to have support, as I have been feeling to the point of giving up and keeping to myself lately as I hate the "mess my life and home have become" because of the pain and fatigue, however I realize that is not a solution and push myself forward every day.
There have been many times in the past when I kept so much to myself which in itself was harmful.  The part of it all which bothers me is I hate been a "pain" to others with my "pain", but I guess that is why goodness, kindness and support from others go hand in hand, and hopefully I give of myself back to those who also have a need.  Silence is not always the healthiest choice, even though it can be the wisest at times, especially where husbands are concerned ... hehehe.
I am very proud of myself as I have said, "no" to something I was asked to volunteer time to next week, so that for me is a very big start.
Wow where did this day go? other then sleeping 2 hours of it away, as it is already almost 8 pm.  Here is to a good night's sleep and a productive day ahead tomorrow, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Happy Mail For Rob

Sleep was terrible again last night.  I was on a bit of a roll with some good night's sleep for a few weeks and I want them back.  My whole morning was a "right off" with sheer fatigue and pain.  I barely moved from the couch until I had to go out to drop off a van to the garage, and again to an appointment at 2 pm.

Rob got some "Happy Mail" today !

Always better late then never .... and he also got 4 scratch tickets too !  Briar must have been out with friends, as she is the only one of the grandchildren who never signed Poppa's Card (and he noticed too).

After my 2 pm appointment had been through I headed up to see my Mother.

This is the photo of Mom today which I had sent some of her Grandchildren today, Paul, Liz, Stacey , Jo-anne, and Jodi-Lynn.  Paul had been out on a school trip with Aiden today, and sent me a photo of them which I got to show Grandma before our visit was over.

I was finally able to get our Birthday boy, Connor's photos from yesterday off my phone.

Yes he was one very happy 8 year old Birthday boy !

Dinner was simple this evening with both Rob and I fending for ourselves.  Rob had chicken wings and a frozen yogurt cone, while I had ranch dip with baby carrots and a frozen yogurt cone too.

It is a rainy evening now after a lovely day here.  Longer days and shorter blog posts with no energy to do anything more most days.

This girl will not be long from her bed, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Happy Father's Day & Happy Birthday !

Once again not much sleep last night for either Rob or I.  We were both pretty tired, and still are, by the time afternoon had rolled around.

Still not accomplishing anything at home today, with not even getting our bed made, was very disappointing for me.  Tomorrow I hope is a better day in that department.

I made a quick stop back into The Painted Turtle & Balloon Headquarters again today to get a necklace figured out and made to match the bracelet I liked using Pandora "bling".

It's always nice to see Cathy & Wenda, and really the way Wenda can put something together in the way of jewellery is amazing!  There is always someone in the store creating something special for themselves.  The bracelet photoed is what I am creating a necklace to match up for the Wedding.  I love a little of the Bohemian look.

More about The Painted Turtle & Balloon Headquarters *click* HERE.  More about Pandora charms *click* HERE.

A couple of weeks ago we made plans to meet with my Cousin Brad & wife, Paula, for dinner at the Red Bay Lodge.

It was a Happy Father's Day meal for Rob & Brad.  Rob had the Prime Rib, while Paula, Brad and I had the blackened fish ... so good too !  Dessert, omg was "sinful".  Photos of Brad & Paula, I left my camera in the van, and must really be slipping in my old age darn it.

Not only was it a Happy Father's Day, it had also been a Happy Birthday to our Grandson, Connor, who just turned 8 years today.  I have photos however having problems downloading from my iphone, so maybe tomorrow I will post.

Rob has already headed off to bed, and I am about to join him shortly, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.`

Only The Pillows ....

The phone rang at 3:31 am this morning waking both Rob and I out of our sleep.  Rob got up and went to collect the person in need.  I never did get back to sleep until much later, then to be woken by the phone again at 7:00 am.  That was sleeping in for me, and let me tell you I was not only in pain all day I was beyond exhausted dang it all ! but so was poor Rob.

So goes the Life of The Crabby Cabbie and his "not so crabby" Wife.

What did I get really accomplished today? really only the pillows off our bed washed.  I also got the dishes washed, along with the covered pedestal cake plate to pack up and put in the van to take down for the Wedding, in ONLY TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY I will be on the dance floor with my Grandchildren !!!

Wednesday had been Portia's first birthday, and dang it all I had forgotten on the day of.  This morning we had to have a little Birthday Celebration for her.

Even Bandit gave one of his award winning Aussie smiles in celebration of Portia's Birthday.  Yes she had treats and actually had a very nice bone just the other day.

It was almost 7 pm when I headed down to my Cousin Peggy's as she was going to walk with me tonight.  We accomplished maybe 2 miles, as we got side tracked by going into The Painted Turtle and Balloon Headquarters to see owners, Wenda and Cathy.

They had gotten some new tops in the other day, which really worked in Peggy's favour as she needed something for a function she is attending next weekend.  She had fun trying on different styles & colours.  I am really not too sure exactly which ones she ended up with, as I had been visiting in the store with Cathy and another customer.  Never a dull moment when you go into The Painted Turtle.  More on it by *clicking* HERE.

A highlight of my day was it beginning with an email I received from my Aunt Gerry and Uncle Reg, which I will now share with all my beautiful FAMILY & FRIENDS; thank you for sharing your Beauty with me. xoxoxo

Here it is:

Did you know that it's Beautiful Women’s Month? You are one of them! Below is a wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn wrote when asked to share her 'beauty tips.'
It was read at her funeral years later.
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Thanks Aunt Gerry & Uncle Reg for starting my day off in such a great way ! it had been a lift I needed and I hope I live my life by following all those Beauty Tips.

I am feeling a wee on the tired side, but much better then I had this afternoon, as the walk had helped. I did make my 10,000 step goal today also.

After the start this day got off to I must admit even though only the pillows got done, it turned out to be a pretty good day after all, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

A Pretty Good Day

Last night my friend, Abby & I had ourselves a hoot at the Fundraiser, so much so Abby is looking forward to going again next year.  She had even tried her hand, or should I say "feet, at some square dancing.

Yes it had most certainly been a great Fundraiser last night at the Wiarton Propeller Club hosted by Julie Gamboa, Sue Given, BJ Guest, and Marg Tambling.
Everyone there had a "blast", not to mention lots of great snacks and beverages.
All proceeds will be going to the BPHS Foundation's "Walk to Create Possibilities"

Everyone got to see a bit what square dancing, Nia, VON, and lots of fun was about, and there had certainly been no lack of fun !

I had gotten home before 9:30 last night (I think).  I am not used to being out so late at night, unless I have been at a Chamber meeting of course.  It hadn't taken me long to hit the sack, sleeping until 5 am at least.

This morning I got going on stripping our bed, laundering the bedding and getting it hung out as it had been a lovely day.

I stopped myself to admire the Hostas out at the front of our house.  This is the largest they have been yet since first planting them a few years back.  Quite a show they are putting on now.

Rob and I actually got a couple of wee items organized out on the deck until he was called out.  Any little dent is at least a dent going forward I suppose.

I have been trying to make a point of going up to have lunch with my Mother every two weeks.  Today was one of those days.

Mom was happy to see me come in with a Tim Hortons coffee for her.  She loves her Timmies.  I took the first photo of her to send via text to 4 of her grandchildren, being Paul, Stacey, Jodi and Joanne.
Yes we also had a nice lunch together although neither of us cared for the Potato Salad or even ate it, but the Cheese/Tomato Sandwich and Jello Parfait had been really good.

This afternoon I had a couple of errands downtown after I had my visit with Mom.  I stopped by the Wiarton Farmer's Market to pickup some fresh Green Pole Beans to go along with our Dinner this evening.

Rob grilled one of my most favourite Dinners, which is Lamb.  Yes I do love lamb.  This particular over the top marinade I had found HERE.  What I changed up was the fact I put it on the rack of lamb in a ziplock bag overnight in the fridge.  Rob grilled it to a  med-rare perfection, which had melted in my mouth.  The beans and asparagus were done to perfection as well after I had steamed them.

Two of my highlights today were being proud of my Paul sending a photo via text for me to show his Grandma along with an "I love You", and myself accomplishing almost 5 miles in steps today.

After Dinner my friend Lynn and I had done over 6,000 steps out for a walk.  It is so much nicer having a walking partner, or should I say a "human" walking partner, as I do have lots of Aussie walking partners.

It had been a pretty good day overall, although I always wish I could have accomplished more then I had.

Rob has had a busy day, just coming home now.  Think we will both be putting our feet up shortly here, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Off I Go

I am off to a Fundraiser this evening to take photos.  My friends, BJ, Sue & Julie have put together a night to raise money for the BPHS "Walk to Create Possibilities".  This will be their 2nd Annual event they have hosted with an expect 80 in attendance this evening.

Check it out from last Year by *clicking* HERE.

Today I also took some stress from myself by asking Liz to order a cake for the wedding topper down there.  She found a Specialty Cake Shop in Baden where she ordered a 2 layer 9" round with raspberry filling and light pink frosted icing for only $46.00 incl. taxes.  SOLD ! with one less stress for me to worry about.  I wish it was all as easy as that.

Today? not very eventful but I did get a bit of this and that done, but nothing to show a dent, nor write home about.  Tomorrow is another day, is it now? and only 2 more weeks til the WEDDING !!!

Before I go... should you be in Wiarton you MUST try the London Ice Cream at the Berford Street Artisan Co. (previously the Home Hardware) downtown.  It is the end to end all ice cream.  How do I know? I have had it before with my favourites being Chocolate Monkey and Ah Chocolate.  I can't wait until the grandsons arrive so I have an excuse to have myself a cone.

On that note I will sign off until I post my adventures, or lack of them, tomorrow, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Double Booked

Another not a good night's sleep for me, however even worse for Rob as he got called out at 10 pm, 2 am & 6 am, making today it a really long day for him.

I double booked appointments for myself this morning with one at 10 am in Wiarton, and the other at 11 am a 1/2 hour drive away (at full tilt) in Lion's Head with my Dentist.  I was stressing a bit about it until my Dentist's office called me when I was heading out to my first appt. to tell me she moved me back to 11:30 am.  What a sweetheart to be so considerate on contacting the other patient and switching the appts. around for me.  Gestures as such validate there are still kind and considerate people in this World, and I am very grateful to have so many of those kind of people in my Life.

Now I think about it, after living in the Kitchener-Waterloo area for over 20 years, I never had the good friends and acquaintances there that I have here.  For that very reason I am happy I did move back to Bruce County.

My first appointment went extremely well much to my relief, and I did make in on time for my Dentist appt.  I know I have said it before but once again I do LOVE my dentist, Pat Duronio.  We always end up having ourselves a bit of a visit after my appointment when my mouth isn't totally wide open.  My teeth were all good when he cleaned them, however I have been experiencing terrible pain in my lower jaw.  Pat was explaining I must be clenching my teeth when sleeping, and has suggested I get fitted for a night guard.  Next appointment I will get an impression to be fitted for one, and hopefully it will solve another one of my pain issues.

A rare moment when our Portia was laying nicely watching me in the bathroom (she goes everywhere with me).  The niceness did not last long before she got going and proceeded to "mess up" the bathroom carpet.  Brat ! Brat ! Brat !

This afternoon when I did arrive back home I "crashed" again.  I had a wicked headache when I had awoke this morning which continued all day.  I never napped but layed still for as long as I could.

Two highlights of this day?

Reading over the Agenda for the VBS which Aiden and Connor will be attending in August was one.  Secondly was going for a walk with my friend, Lynn, and walking over 6,000 steps together bringing my total to almost my goal of 10,000 today.  I am pretty certain I did make my goal as I never had my phone on my person every moment today to count all of my steps.

I just had a Dinner of salad and watermelon.  Rob had cereal, however had himself homemade hamburgers for his lunch.

Hopefully I can get Rob into his pant suit and dress shoes tomorrow so I can check if they will need hemmed or now, as time is beginning to run out with only 2 more weeks and a bit before the WEDDING !!!  have I mentioned yet how excited I am (and a bit nervous).  You would think it was me getting married again ! as if that will ever happen ....

And by the way, if you are looking for some uniqueness with a purpose, check out The Cluttered Cupboard, tucked away behind Wiarton's main Berford Street, on Lousia.  Even better take a "peek" now by checking out their Facebook Page by *clicking* HERE.  I think I am totally in love with the Birds on a Wire !

I think I am almost ready to call this day a wrap until tomorrow, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

It's A Start

I didn't have a good day today, but I had a stay at home day, with the exception of signing our grandsons, Aiden & Connor, for Day Camp in August .... have I mentioned how excited I am to have them for a week in July & in August this Summer????  I am certain I will be mentioning a few times more before it actually comes to be.

As most days I am nauseous, however today seemed worse then other days, along with the usual aches and pains.  Not getting really much of anything done what I did do was force myself to go out into the most beautiful day we had today ...  the Sun was out, there was a slight breeze and the temperatures were perfect.  A day like today every day for the rest of my life would be a dream.

What I forced myself outside to do?

My flower beds are in ruin, however it's a start I made, and as my friend said to me today, "it is what it is", and I can't humanly do more then what I am capable of doing at any given moment.

Rob also got the lawn cut tonight, as with all the rain and dampness they had begin looking like a hay field.  The mosquitoes were and are horrid !!!!

We have a wireless pet containment system for Portia.  The key which turns the battery in on the collar snapped the other day.  I called Pet Safe about getting a new on.  All the way from Indiana it had arrived today.

Things in Indiana must be as big as things are in Texas as that was some very LARGE packaging they had sent it in.  I could not help but have a chuckle over this one.

Just before I had came back inside a car had pulled in at the end of our driveway.  Much to my surprise and delight it had been my friend, Diane, dropping off a little thank you and surprise for me.

I have known Diane from the very first when I began my Blog 4 years ago, and let me tell you she is a beautiful person inside and out.  I am so very lucky to have such wonderful friends.  Thanks Diane I can't wait until we get together for coffee and catch up more.  xx

When Rob and I had gone down to the Salvation Army to sign the boys up for the Vacation Bible School program, we also stopped around to the Foodland store to get some hamburger buns for our Dinner.  Tonight I had BBQ'd Turkey burgers, without a bun, and Rob had regular Beef hamburgers.

Speaking of Beef, has anyone noticed how high the prices are for it now a days?  along with everything else as well.

Oh I almost caught myself in a lie.  About 7 pm I picked up my neighbour friend and headed down to fill the van up with fuel at the Gas Bar at Saugeen First Nations.  We hadn't been together for sometime.

Tomorrow is looking like a not too bad of a weather day, however I have overlapped two morning appointments.  I hope I can pull them off then get my butt back home, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

A Tad Bit Of Fog

Another night of not such a great sleep with a day of exhaustion stretched out ahead of me.  Tonight my hopes for sleep are high, especially since there had been a failed attempt at a Cat Nap mid-afternoon.

After just getting the bed made up, and the Aussies looked after I had to head out to do a couple of downtown errands.  It seemed that I had barely gotten back home, had some lunch when I had to head over to Owen Sound.

I met up with my niece for a coffee, then we checked out a couple of stores together.  I got home mid-afternoon feeling quite exhausted.

Meeting at 5 pm didn't see me back home until almost 7 pm.  I finished loading an update on our Garmin GPS then began this short post.

For those who were unable to copy & past the links in my blog of yesterday to read all about Sparkle and her update, please go back as I linked it up a bit different.  Just *click* HERE.

Other then muggy, the day turned out pretty nice despite there being a tad bit of fog this morning ...

Before I call it a day I thought a bit of humour was in order.

On that note it is time for me to sign off, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Happy Anniversary Sparkle !

I had another poopy nights sleep, but really? my sleep pattern has improved from what it had been a couple of months ago, so that makes me very happy.  My energy? nowhere near yesterday but that is okay too, as noted improvement there as well.

Two weeks ago we had planned to meet up with our Crabby Cabbie driver, John, and his wife, Lori.  We hadn't been all together since before Christmas so why not try out a new place for breakfast.

We headed North on Hwy 6 to Mar, took a turn left, passed Sky Lake, then a right to Red Bay, ending up at ....

The Red Bay Lodge, which is making a "come back" on the Bruce Peninsula, since almost being ran into the ground the past 10 years.  The Red Bay Lodge holds many many memories of past generations by vacationers and locals.  Yes, breakfast was good, as was the lunch I had there a couple weeks ago.

For some reason my Rob and his driver, John, are like frick and frack.  Never a day goes by with a burst of laughter between the two of them.

What do I have to say about this duo? thank God they have two wonderful wives who have their backs.

I would like to say, Happy Anniversary Sparkle, and her Forever Home "Mom", Marie.  Marie took Sparkle in from a rescue 3 years ago, and they have made history together since.

Here is the story of Sparkle when she was rescued by Marie, and a recent update, just go HERE, and then HERE.

It is always nice to learn of "Happy Tails", is it not?  and we all have one or two of them to tell ourselves..

Today was not too productive as either the falling rain caused my low energy levels, or maybe the lack of sleep.  Still Portia and I managed a very late afternoon walk downtown Wiarton, to come back home for a late Dinner.

Last night I received a text message from our grandson's Mother, asking if I would still like them for a week in August? really do you think I said, "NO"? not in this lifetime.  She has lost her babysitter this Summer, so not only do we get them the week in August, we are also getting them one week in July as well.  Can you say, "HAPPY"? as I sure can.  Adventures to be had this coming Summer, hooray, hooray !!!

Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new week, and I will be heading into it whether I am ready or not, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.

Up & At It

I really didn't have the greatest sleep last night, especially since I have been sleeping better lately.  I was wide awake at 5 am, then got up well before 6 am.  Yes I was up & at it today.

Today was the first day in a long while that I retained my pockets of energy all day long.  That was a pretty nice feeling let me "Tell the World".

First off I got 2 loads of laundry washed and hung out on the line, then I got onto cleaning the hallway closet.

Yes the floor in the closet was a mess, and the bins of dog food had been long over due to get out of our kitchen.  Yes everything fit in all rather nicely leaving still enough room for the vacuum cleaner!  Hooray !!

I also had made a trip over to Owen Sound early this morning.  I had stopped into No Frills as they had Chapman's Frozen Yogurt on for $2.97 a 2 l., as it costs us $5.99 otherwise at our local store here.  I also was so very happy the 10" potted annual hangers were only $6.97 each, regular anywhere from $9.99 to $12.99 anywhere else.  I got 6 hangers to go around.

I had also got 2 ferny type plants with small pink flowers so I could do up this plant stand.  Haven't quite made up my mind which side I like the bears on yet.  Opinions welcome.

While I had been busy doing lots of vacuuming and cleaning, Rob was busy working at getting our deck ready.

He had put plywood down for flooring so mosquitoes would not come up through the decking, which he got to staining once the day dried up after the Sun came out.  We lucked in on a galleon of stain, as it had been a mistint at $10.00.  Bonus !  Once the stain dried he got the indoor/outdoor carpet put down, just setting the furniture around for the time being.

Rob also made us a wonderful Dinner again tonight.  I LOVE BBQ season as Rob enjoys cooking most of it.  He has been getting quite famous in my books for his Potato Salad, and his chicken is always crispy on the outside and nice an moist on the inside.

After Dinner Rob put up some of the screening.  Here is one of my $6.97 plants I put into the basket today, as my Bear looked on .... love my Bear.

My son, Paul, is Best Man for his long time childhood friend, Blake, on his Wedding day in August, and Blake is Paul's Best Man for his upcoming Wedding in July.  Tonight is Blake and Jenn's Stag & Doe tonight.  The Theme for the evening is the 80's.

Here is Liz & Paul just before heading off to the party.  Hahaha got to love Paul's "mullet", and his T-Shirt, "Team Groom".  We had bought tickets but couldn't get back down to New Hamburg this weekend.

Look at me go today ! doing 6318 steps without even going out for a walk.  Almost just like the "good old days".  I sure would love it would last like this forever for me, but I will take all the energy anytime that comes my way, Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard.
