Day 5: HOME SWEET HOME

My friend, Toni with an "i", and new friend (her sister-in-law), Kathy with a "k", and I headed out from Kingston this morning on the last trek homeward bound.  Toni to her husband, Bob, Kathy to her visit with her parents, and I to my hubby, Rob, and our 4 Aussies.

Coming into Port Hope there had been an awful accident heading towards Kingston as we made our way towards Toronto.  Two tractor trailers and a regular pickup truck were all on their sides in the ditch.  I hope there is never a day I would ever have to witness such an awful moment such as this happen, nor be involved.  I could not imagine, and hope the driver/passengers all survived.

With only a couple of stops we weaved our way around the outskirts of Toronto making awesome timing under the direction of our ever road worthy navigator, Toni.

We barely went out of our way to stop in over Newmarket way to stop in to surprise Toni's daughter, Nevada, at her job.  She really was beyond surprised, never ever expecting to see her Mom show up.  Gotta love moments like these.

We had our very last stop of the day at East Side Marios for a quick lunch before landing back in Toni's driveway over a hour and some time later.  Yes Owen Sound will be welcoming the Tall Ships tomorrow.

When I was driving North from Hepworth to Wiarton I just happened to notice the Wiarton Crabby Cabbie vehicle pulled in at a residence around the Clavering area.  I pulled over and walked up behind one very  surprised  happy to see me husband.  I was as equally happy to see him too.

The reception I had by Lexus and Bandit was "out of this World", the two younger ones were happy, but not as "crazy" happy as the two older ones had been.  According to Rob, Bandit had been pouting since I had left, and everyone else had been very quiet.

I had a big surprise myself when I walked in the door ....

Rob had a brand new beam ran between our living and dining room areas while I was gone, along with some fancy work.  What a nice surprise this was !!!!  maybe I should leave more often to come home for more surprises.  Thanks "honey do" Rob.

Another surprise was to find out the Bruce Peninsula Press had printed an article about The "Crabby Cabbie" in this week's issue.

... also we had ran our ad in the Service Section.

Rob and I could not be more pleased with the service and "mention" we received by The Bruce Peninsula Press.

I  had a wonderful trip, and really was most fortunate to experience all I did thanks to my friend, Toni with an "i" and her family members.  I am still happy to be back at my HOME SWEET HOME with more sweet memories to reflect back on from time to time.

Can I say "tired" ???  I most certainly can, considering at this time last night I was in Kingston, Ontario, and the night before Grand Falls, NB, far, far away from home, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".

  5. Welcome back to Ontario!
I have a friend who lives in Napanee, works in Kingston. There is not a week goes by that she isn't caught up in a traffic jam due to an accident on that stretch. I remember the last time I drove to Blue Skies Music Festival, on a late Friday afternoon of a long weekend. The traffic was fierce and bottle neck. One guy would just touch his brakes and for MILES vehicles would come to a stand still. I hate that highway!

  6. Good for the Crabby Cabbie.

On those occasions I head for southern Ontario, I don't even bother with 401. Highway seven is a more pleasant stretch.
