Good-bye Summertime 2012

Summer over?  Already ???  I am  sure I say that every Year; I also say, "the older I get the faster they go".  What's up with that?  Why can time not slow down like I have?  Dang, dang, triple dang ....

Today is International Gratitude Day.  I am grateful for every day I awake to a new day ahead of me, my wonderful husband, family and my friends.  Today I had been going back through a few of my blog posts from last Year and happened upon this I had previously blogged ....

Vitamin F

I loved this and want to share it with you...

Why do I have a variety of friends who are all so different in character? How can I get along with them all? I think that each one helps to bring out a "different" part of me.

With one of them I am polite.
I joke with another friend.
I sit down and talk about serious matters with one.
With another I laugh a lot.
I may have a drink (Coke, or Pepsi of course,) with one.
I listen to one friend's problems.
Then I listen to another one's advice for me.

My friends are all like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. When completed, they form a treasure box. A treasure of friends!

They are my friends who understand me better than myself, who support me through good days and bad days. We all pray together and for each other.

Doctors tell us that friends are good for our health.

Dr. Oz calls them Vitamins F (for Friends) and counts the benefits of friends as essential to our well being.

Research shows that people in strong social circles have less risk of depression and terminal strokes.

If you enjoy Vitamins F constantly you can be up to 30 years younger than your real age.

The warmth of friendship stops stress and even in your most intense moments it decreases the chance of a cardiac arrest or stroke by 50%.

I'm so happy that I have a stock of Vitamins F!

In summary, we should value our friends and keep in touch with them. We should try to see the funny side of things and laugh together, and pray for each other in the tough moments.

Thank you for being one of my Vitamins!

I loved it then, and still love reading it now !

"What is this? Oh, but of course. This little one wish to commit suicide to prove her love for me. What a sweet gesture. Nevertheless, I must prevent it."

My morning began with a real life Pepe Le Pew story, in this case almost committing suicide for himself.  I had made a call to our Son, Paul, this morning only to have him explaining what had happened to him first thing this morning, it went something like this ....

Mom, a neighbour came to the door to tell me a skunk had its head stuck in a Cheez Whiz jar and couldn't get it off.  I took a hockey stick to hold it in place while I went to pull the jar off its head..  Mom I couldn't believe it, it actually put it's paw up against me to help push the jar off!  He never sprayed at all.

Wowsers !  Paul was so caught up in helping get the jar off Pepe's head, he forgot to take a picture first !  Could you imagine a picture of that?  Ha !  Good job Son, and so glad Pepe was grateful to you.

See even animals can be full of gratitude.

Today I had company on the ride North of the Checkerboard, as Rob also had an appointment to see Dr. Loney this morning too.  Rob's sugar is just a tad on the high side, so we must be cutting back on our sugar intake, as well as high fats to try and decrease belly fat.  Not an easy task once it is there, but not impossible with some lifestyle changes, along with the will power of sticking to them.

Since I also could loose 10 lbs, I hope my will power gets geared up to where it should be.  I will have to keep reminding myself I had the will power to quit smoking over 3 years ago, so what is 10 lbs to loose?

Ha! easier said then done, is it not?

"I picked up this CD which was available at no cost at my Doctor's office, hoping I will find some tips I don't know already or to reinforce what I already know maybe?  Not that I have Cholesterol, but thinking there will be some good info found.  Check it out HERE."

We didn't get back home until almost 11:00 am.  Most of the day gone in my books.

"I took the time to label the jars of Tomato Sauce I made last night after I had done my Blog Post.  I finally finished up around 10:30 pm, grateful the hydro hadn't gone out with the bit of Storm we were having."

I was and still am so exhausted today, I am thinking I must look like a "mushed" tomato myself.  I spent most of the afternoon doing NOTHING, until the phone rang and I had to run out for my "Crabby Cabbie".

Since I was going to Owen Sound, I loaded some Dog Food, purchased in error, and some bundles of newspapers, as the Owen Sound Animals Shelter is full and in need.

"I arrived pulling up to the front door where one of the Staff was so kind enough to come out and give me a hand to unload what I had brought."

"Today was surgery day, spay or neuter, so I was not allowed back to where the dogs were as they had to be kept quiet.  These little guys had just been brought out when I had arrived, just having had been neutered.  There are two all wrapped up snug in towels."

The shelter is in urgent need of blankets, sheets and towels.  And the kittens are in need of kitten food.  Please help if you are able.  The link for the Owen Sound Animal Shelter can be found by *clicking* HERE.

"Heading West out of Owen Sound across downtown towards the West Hill, taking the back way around to avoid the late day Friday afternoon rush."

"I did so manage to pick a box of tomatoes today for a friend.  These are all for you , Toni, my friend with an "i"."

I am thinking it was pretty close to 5 pm by the time I eventually did arrive back home, as I had to stop in Hepworth to pickup the tops we had got for Mom the other day from the Seamstress, as they had needed shortened.

"One guess, and the second doesn't count, at what my plans for these were?"

"I am trying my hand at dehydrating tomatoes in order to grind them so I can have tomato power to make my own Tomato Paste.  Sounds like a great plan to me, check it out HERE."

Just before I had started up the dehydrator at 7:00 pm, I received a Facebook message from my friend Toni back, as I had asked her if she had yet tried tomatoes in her dehydrator yet.  She had told me "yes, but they had stuck quite a bit".  Damn, damn, triple damn, I had forgot to spray the trays before I had put the sliced tomatoes on them.... good thing I hadn't started it up yet, as I had been planning to in 5 minutes time if I hadn't gotten the message from Toni..  Saved by the "bell", or in this case the "message" !  Off came all the tomatoes, trays sprayed then arranged all again.... oh man !

I am pretty excited at the prospect of making Tomato Power to have Tomato Paste on hand to make up as Easy Peasy as 1-2-3.  Trust me if it isn't Easy Peasy, it won't be happening for me again.  Ha !  that will be that.

"Just a little peak where Bandit and I spend all most of our evenings while our "Crabby Cabbie" is gone.  We keep ourselves very busy as you can tell by Bandit's position."

Poor Bandit, he still has spots broken out on him.  I am now applying the Gold Bond Medicated powder with hopes this will dry it up and hopefully be the end of it sooner then later.  This has gone on way too long as far as I am concerned.

"I just got the Canadian Photography "Photo News" Mag in the mail the other day ... check out the new Nikon Coolpix L610.  I miss my Coolpix ... I think I will being putting this one on my Wish List."

"Hello Ole' Blue Eyes and Good-bye Summer ..... "

On that note, Mr. Sinatra I am signing off myself from here, forever grateful for this day, and so looking forward to tomorrow, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".
