An Honest To Goodness Date !

"Last night we hit the road with a Timmies coffee each as ..... (notice I use my Coffee Cozy my Secret Sister, Virna over at Craftmates, made for me?  Always in use for my Timmies ! ). "

".... Rob and I were headed on down the road to have an "honest to goodness date" together."

"I was absolutely thrilled when Rob told me he would take me to see the Movie I wanted to see since the reviews were out.  "Brave", at the Owen Sound Drive-In!"

"I do so love Drive-In Theatres.  I remember, waaayyyyy back, coming to this very same drive-in to see the "Exorcist", when it had first came out.  I had read the book first, so wasn't too unnerved by the movie at that time."

"Um.... don't know how it happened but one of the "kids" wormed their way along on our date."

Rob and I both enjoyed the movie, Brave, however just into watching the movie, Men in Black 3, for the first 15 minutes or so, had enough and left to come home.  We are not Men in Black fans, however it had been paired up with Brave.  Bonus was that admission on a Tuesday night is only $6.00 per person, opposed to the regular price of $10.00 each.  Tuesdays are my kind of movie night !

I am sure we didn't get home until well after midnight.  You can't imagine how thrilled I had been this morning when not a "peep" came out of one of our "Checkerboard Aussies" this morning until well after 7:30 am.  That was a "Bonus" sleep for me, it was !

A few days ago I had posted a recipe/method on how to make your own Homemade Laundry detergent.  However the soap my friend, Diane, had gifted me was not made the same way as in the method I had then posted.

"Diane was kind enough to email her method, which I will now share."

I have used this recipe for laundry soap for several years now. I found it on-line one day when I did some surfing as I was so mad at the high cost of laundry soap. I have since learned that is also a healthier option and better for the environment. I make it on rainy days when I am in domestic mode. I just went to smell my husband's shirt as he really sweat this week in the heat and it smells awesome, so those really stinky work clothes may need the real stuff to get them clean.

You will need a large plastic container that will hold at least 17 cups of liquid which will give you 34 washes. It can easily be double for those households with more washes.

Grate 1 bar Sunlight Bar Laundry soap into a large pot with 3 cups of water and heat on medium heat until melted. Stir with a wooden spoon to help get all the bits melted. Add 1/3 cup borax and 1/3 cup arm and hammer washing soda and stir until melted. At this time add about 12 drops of tea tree oil as an antioxidant. (I have never had a batch grow mold). You could also use any essential oil that you have but tea tree is reasonably priced.

Next, have your clean container in the sink and add 2 cups of hot water. Pour the mixture from the stove into the pot and start stirring with the wooden spoon. Now add 12 cups of cold water while continuing to stir and you are done. It will look like a thick egg drop soup but it will eventually set. Use 1/2 cup per load.

As a side note, I use the blue dryer balls in the dryer as they are healthier for you and cost saving.

This was also shared on Cindy's Recipe Exchange on Facebook.

Since having Cindy's Recipe Exchange (242 Members) for just over a Year now, and Pet Lovers of Bruce County, Info, Buy, Sell, or Trade (205 Members), for just a few short months, both on Facebook, I can't tell everyone how encouraging it is to see so many people come together to lend support and/or knowledge to one another.  I so appreciate all the members in both Groups for being there for each other.

Notice the 205 Members, in just a few short months?  LOL, does this mean less people cooking and eating out with their Pets?

Only last week there was a Give Away by Lena over at Frugal and Thankful.  I had my heart set on winning the scarf Lena had made with her own two hands.  Carla over at My 1/2 Dozen Daily, and Judy at Just Making My Way Back, both thought they should be having this very same scarf I had my heart set on .... as Mrs. Thrifty of New Beginnings, knows I do love the colour blue, as us Pisces are suppose to ....

"Five feet of beauty made with love and enjoyment with each stitch I am sure."

Girls, girls, girls,I hate to disappoint you all but the winner was ....

"  ME  "

.... since I strive to be a sharing and giving person, I will be more then happy to email each of you  a photo of me "modeling" the scarf by Lena, periodically throughout the Year so you too can admire it on a regular basis.  Good plan?  LOL

Much thanks to Lena for having such a wonderful draw for all of us !

More on today?  Not too much more, as Rob and I needed to get the weeds growing out of our lawn under control.

"Although those little yellow flowers are very pretty."

"Our riding Lawn Tractor still hasn't been repaired.  Not sure who need the rest more, the operator or the push mower.  At least the push mower had found a shady spot."

"Rob was so kind enough to get the heavy duty weed eater out to do the heavy Canary Grasses that were attempting to weigh down our fences."

"Once half of the front lawn had been done, this operator needed to take the remainder of the day off to take in some pretty awesome sights.  Until I had uploaded the photo, I hadn't been sure if I had captured the butterfly or not."

"Rob and I were both ready to each have a Hot Dog and Watermelon for our Dinner, when the phone rang for him to do a "Crabby Cabbie" call .... the watermelon travelled well, but was long gone before our destination."

Has anyone started any canning yet, other then when the Strawberries and Rhubarb were ready?  I am thinking Peaches will only be a short couple of weeks off now, as Debby down South has began canning Peaches over at her place:  http://myblog-nannysplace.blogspot.ca/2012/07/in-can.html , and Peach juice too, something I am sure all her Grands will love !

When still living in Woolwich Twp., just on the outskirts of Waterloo, my girlfriend and I decided to make Peach Brandy one Year.  Let me tell the World, it would have made the chest hair stand up on the best of Woman !  LOL .... thinking more got "tossed" then "drank", as it was pretty potent.

I am pretty tired at the moment with the onslaught of a headache appearing.  I think I will take in some fresh air outside with the "Checkerboard Aussies" before calling it an early night, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".

  1. Hi Cindy,

I'm so glad you love the coffee cozy I made for you. Maybe I'll make one for Rob too so he can use one as well.

I've never been to a drive-in movie before even though there's one close to our house. I'll make sure to go to one this summer.

Hope your tractor gets repaired soon.

    Take care,
    Virna
