Busy Times Today, With Lots Upcoming Later This Week !

Another busy day behind me once again.  I could still be going, however I choose not to.  I have had all three of the "pack" in and out, so now I sit.

Rob's Cell phone of six years or so finally gave up the "ghost".  We really didn't want to buy a new one, or upgrade with our Mobility provider and have a 2 or 3 year contract.  It just so happened a used Smart Phone came up for sale on one of the local Swap groups on Facebook that we figured would suit our purposes.

"For a price ticket of $60.00, we grabbed it."

The newer phone needed Rob's number transferred to it, as well as a SIM card installed.  What is a SIM card you ask?  Here is the answer I found which explains what one is rather nicely, so I thought:

SIM card or Subscriber Identity Module is a portable memory chip used in some models of cellular telephones. The SIM card makes it easy to switch to a new phone by simply sliding the SIM out of the old phone and into the new one. The SIM holds personal identity information, cell phone number, phone book, text messages and other data. It can be thought of as a mini hard disk that automatically activates the phone into which it is inserted.
SIM card can come in very handy. For example, let's say your phone runs out of battery power at a friend's house. Assuming you both have SIM-based phones, you can remove theSIM card from your phone and slide it into your friend's phone to make your call. Your carrier processes the call as if it were made from your phone, so it won't count against your friend's minutes.
If you upgrade your phone there's no hassle involved. The SIM card is all you need. Just slide it into the new phone and you're good to go. You can even keep multiple phones for different purposes. An inexpensive phone in the glove compartment, for example, for emergency use, one phone for work and another for home. Just slide your SIM card into whatever phone you wish to use.
We needed to make a trip into Owen Sound to the Bell Center to obtain a SIM Card and transfer our cellular plan to Rob's "new to him" phone.
"It was such a cold miserable rainy morning anyway, a good day to go do such an errand."

Other then the trip into Owen Sound, the transaction didn't cost us a "penny".  Finally something that didn't cost us something for a change.  His phone is up and operational now.  We also took advantage by being into Owen Sound to stop at the Giant Tiger to pickup a couple of items that had been on sale there.
Of course by the time we had gotten back home, put our few purchases away, it was time for me to make Dinner for us.  Something we hadn't had for a while, being one of our favorites .... a Ham, Mushroom & Cheese Quiche.
"Ham, mushrooms and cheese mixed together and spread into the already browned ready made Pillsbury Pie Crust."

"With the minced onion, dry mustard, pepper and cream mixed together with the eggs, all poured over top, into the 375*F oven it went."

"Since my oven takes a little bit longer, it was all done and puffed up about 45 minutes later."

"Making us a lovely Dinner served alongside some steamed broccoli."

Recipe please?

Ham, Mushroom & Cheese Quiche

9" pie shell (deep dish)
6 eggs beaten
1 c. shredded cheese (I used marble cheddar)
1 c. chopped ham
1 - 4 oz. can of sliced mushrooms, drained (I used fresh)
1 c. Half & Half creamer
2 tbsp. minced onion
1/2 tsp. salt (I omitted)
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1/4 tsp. pepper

Brush pie shell with a little of the beaten eggs; prick bottom and sides of pastry with fork. Bake in a preheated 450* F oven for 5 minutes; remove.   Reduce oven heat to 375* F.

Stir together cheese, ham and mushrooms; arrange evenly on pie shell bottom. Add remaining ingredients to beaten eggs and pour over cheese mixture.

Bake in a 375* F oven for 30-35 minutes, or until knife comes out clean.  Leave stand for 5 minutes before serving.

I had no sooner cleaned up from our Dinner, sat down with a coffee, when I realized I had to get going.  It was 2 pm, and I had to go pickup my Mother, as we both had an appointment with our Dentist, in Lion's Head for 3 pm.  Off I went again, with my coffee being quickly downed first.

"Mom was all ready to go when I went to pick her up from Golden Dawn, so we made it to our appointment with Dr. Pat in record time."

We both came away from the Dentist with no fatalities other then our teeth cleaned, and another appointment made for October.
By the time I had dropped Mom back off, got her settled in and headed back towards home "South of the Checkerboard" it was well after 4 pm.
"It didn't take me long to get pass this truck hauling Bruce Peninsula stone."

I arrived home to take care of three happy to see me furry faces.  Bandit, Lexus and Mercedes are always happy to see me come home, wonder why that is?  LOL, I am sure it has something to do with having my attention, needing to relieve themselves, or food, not necessarily in that order.
It was so damp and cold with a few wet flurries off and on all day.

"It never ceases to amaze me how hardy some perennials are on days like today."

Once the "pack" were all taken care of, I still had to make our bed and do up the dishes from our Dinner.  My sister, Donna, also called to thank me for the Birthday Card and the magnet I had also enclosed with it.
"Donna said she had the biggest laugh when she read this.  Ha, we are always being careful of being healthy and making good food choices, however this is for those times we "fall" off the good food wagon ... LOL."

"When we were in shopping at Giant Tiger today, I also picked up a little something to "make me feel good.  Nothing like something bright and colourful to lift your spirits from time to time when the outside weather gets you down, is there?"

In anticipation of the arrival of the 2012 "Checkerboard Aussie" litter I advertised their upcoming litter on Kijiji.  What a great response I have had thus far.  If all goes according to plan (not that it ever does), all the puppies are almost spoken for before they have arrived.  However, being rather on the skeptical side at times, it will be "Show me the MONEY" before I buy that any are sold .... lol.

Positive, think positive ... send positive energy my way !  LOL .... now you are getting "sleepy".

Okay I am tired, as I am starting to sound way too silly even for myself.

I am most certainly hoping the weather clears up for the Kemble Maple Syrup Tour this Saturday, as I am planning on going.  Make sure you purchase your "passport" at one of the locations put forth on the following web link:

http://www.foodlinkgreybruce.com/index.php?page=event_listing&event_id=194

Also this Saturday evening is the "Dance For A Cure".  Where can you go dance for $10.00 now, really?

...and to local Country Artist, Tommy Gilham and the Chill Billys?

This video was taken at Wiarton's Downtown Main Street, Summer 2011.  How fantastic we have such fantastic Country talent right in Bruce Peninsula's own back yard?

Did I mention I was tired?  I am pretty sure "tired" is my middle name most days, but then again when Mr. Insomnia comes a knocking at 2 am, what else does a girl do?  I am signing off, so I can get myself rested either for another date with Mr. Insomnia tonight, or another busy day tomorrow here, "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard".
