What A Day ! VON SMART, Accreditation Rewards & Elk?

So began another day "Just North of Wiarton & South of the Checkerboard" here in good old Bruce County when I can remember how our vegetable garden looked not long after it had been planted  way back in the Spring.

"Here is now, in what I am sure is almost, if not in worse despair then when 4 inches of rain in June had been covering it."

"The Canadian Geese are very pleased a small lake has returned to our back field for them to rest upon; trust me there are Geese in this picture (click on the picture to enlarge)."

The rain didn't stop me as I headed out to attend the weekly VON SMART exercise program in Wiarton; I was just happy it wasn't snow coming down.

The Grey-Bruce VON SMART Program's coordinator, Dorothy Embacher, who I also consider to be the SMART Program's Guru, was in attendance at the session.  She was right in there with the rest of us, participating for the hour of "fun" us volunteers and participants were having on maintaining our being active.

"Here is our VON SMART Instructor, our very own, BJ Guest, who also hosts Zumba Classes in Wiarton."

"You can tell by BJ & Cathy in this picture, the program can be made "fun" for it's participants as well.  Cathy is also attending the VON SMART Program course, along with myself and a few others who are training as Instructor/Volunteers for the VON SMART Program."

At the end of the session, Dorothy made an incredible announcement to our group that VON Canada's SMART Program had been recognized by Accreditation Canada, and received  a Best Practice Reward !!!

I am really honored  knowing I am involved in volunteering for a program where it's volunteers and participants have been the roots and growth for such a program as the VON SMART program, and that it has been recognized in such an honorable fashion.

Congratulations VON CANADA !!!

Rob and I had to make a quick Road Trip into Owen Sound yesterday, and trust me the rain had not stopped  one bit by the time the lunch hour had rolled around !!!

"The rain was still coming down over Georgian Bay, with the heavy cloud covering being a "dead" giveaway."

"I just had to take a picture of this cool looking apple tree which appeared to be forming an archway into the field beyond."

"Then as we approached Oxeden, we came across the majestic Elk standing with looks more of curiosity then fear as they watched us from our place at the roadside."

"The rains have filled this waterfall, just along the way as we made our way back along Frank Street into Wiarton, which at times throughout the Summer months has only been a "trickle"."

"Then so ends my day back home with my newest little helper .... "oh thanks, Mercedes, you are such a good girl retrieving the compost for me from the kitchen"  LOL."

Now onto what my Wiarton Weatherman guy has to say about the day ahead.

There it is, maybe a little bit of reprieve by the look of that colour yellow peaking out, and then more of "you know what".

In speaking and hearing recently from a few friends, apparently the "post a comment" does now work at the end of my "blog", so please feel free to do so.  Should you NOT have a google account, I am thinking a comment could be left anonymously, with maybe your name posted as well at the end of your comment, so I can recognize who the comment is from.  Awesome, awesome, and more awesome a day hopefully ahead of us all.
